Washng machine has just finished and it has started to pour with rain!
Had bacon and egg for breakfast and trying to convince myself I do not want something to nibble.
Having a pot of tea while on here so I am not tempted.
DH says he will take me shopping later and we are going to DDs parents evening tonight.
Might make bratwurst with baked potato and cauli cheese for tea unless inspiration strikes.

Morning again, this is a bit of a rant again, sorry.......I need hugs this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went back to bed somewhere around 3.30am, only to be rudely awakened at 7.30am by the HDS delivering a parcel which it turned out was for our next door neighbour!!!!!!!!!!!!
We got up and went into town on the bus to see Nationwide. What the chap told me on the phone last night is a load of c**p.
They have ordered us new cards which should come through in 7 days. We will also be sent a card reader for certain transactions on the web, you will have to put the card in the machine and put in the transaction number in on screen.
Cards which were new last year are not affected, but anyone with a card issued in 2006 is. So Donny-Girl I think you will have to phone the bank. I just hope you do not get the idiot I got last night. Depending on when you come home, your new cards will be waiting for you when you get there, along, I presume, with the card reader.
I made it known that the call centre staff needed to have instructions how the system was going to work explained to them so they actually understand, and do not carry on giving out duff info. OH told the Customer Advisor we saw that we had been on the point of closing all our account and moving somewhere else.
So after a disturbed night wondering how we were going to cope, its been cleared up.
We are also having second thoughts about the car……with diesel at almost £5 a gallon the car is sitting for most of the time in the car park. We try to use it as little as possible……which really means that we are paying out a lot of money to keep the car standing. If we sold it we would not be able to visit, or collect one of my daughters, I would no longer be able to visit my quilting friend, by the time I got to her on the bus, it would be time to come home again. Put paid to the allotment and also our holidays………….I have already had to increase our food budget by £20 a month, our heating and rent bills will go up in April along with the council tax, this is rapidly becoming a situation where for hundreds more of the elderly it will be a case of heating or eating.
We have to struggle on for another 17 months until our consolidation loan is finished, even then if things continue to go on as they are I doubt it will make much difference to us….we will still be fighting to keep a decent standard of living……………It gets so depressing at times………….
It’s a bright sunny morning, but the wind is very cold. I was glad to get into the warm. We have the plumber coming this afternoon to see to the radiator in our bedroom at last……………..
Off to see about some lunch, might have a nap afterwards, I feel very tired today.
PS: someone earlier in the thread suggested using a credit card, the whole point of the Nationwide debit card is that you can use it anywhere in the world and you do no pay any charges.......with a credit card they would charge you for using the card, extra for drawing cash and also a transaction fee, it can work out as much as £8 per cash transaction depending on how much cash you draw. Sorry but that kind of money is better in my pocket, not the credit card companies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

Scuzz what sort of books do you read? i love historical ones im rereading The other boleyn girl by phillippa Gregory at the mo ready for when the film comes out, ive just finished A wedding in winter by anita Shreve - that was good. ive got all the harry potter ones but have only read the first i must read those. i hope you mange to get it from the libary
I like all sorts. I really would recommend you read the rest of Harry Potter. And please read them before seeing the films. I also love Eragon by Christopher Poulini (I think that's his last name) the sequel Eldest is brilliant too. Again the film doesn't IMO do justice to the book. I've got Wizard Knight at home, but not sure who it's by. Leaving that till after I finish the boy wizard series!Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -

It does feel like I'm pretty much alone at the moment to be honest. Hoping it's just a phase. I came into 2008 promising to make it a good one:rolleyes: Still you must take the rough with the smooth I guess!!!!Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -

Lovely Aussie....If you like that sort of thing.
This is where I live ......Cold enough for you?0 -
Hi all - just popped back in with a coffee.
QUEENIE - thanks for the De-clutter calendar - it's printing off as I type!
AUSSIE - I can't believe you live in such a stunning place! It's beautiful, isn't it? You must love living there. I was quite mesmerised by the film.
HARIBO - that is a stunning photo, regardless of how cold it is!
CSARINA - I'm glad you got to speak to a grown-up about your cards. I had a feeling that that is what had happened. More often that not, I've not taken as gospel what someone says to me without calling back and speaking to someone else, just to make sure. No bank would risk losing business by messing around with the credit card system. As for pulling the belt in - my DH and I are on that 'project' at the moment. I'm going to spend the afternoon hunting round for cheaper insurance quotes and I'm waiting for Martin to give the go-ahead for changing energy suppliers. Everything is going up so fast now that I want to trim the budget as hard as I can!
Well, I've cleaned the house from top to bottom, prepped for the stew tonight, made two loaves of bread and a bread-and-butter pud, put the ironing board up (only a small pile - my resolution not to let it build up is working so far!) and done a bit of paperwork. I'm babysitting tonight for DS1 and DIL; the grandchildren will be in bed when I get there so I'm taking my knitting.
The rain has finally stopped here now and it's actually feeling quite warm! A taste of Spring, perhaps?
See you all later.
