Yep, I do it all the time. Would advise grating it beforehand, then you can just use what you need each time.0

It freezes really well - I do it all the time0

Of course, my chest freezer is full of reduced items from the supermarkets.mollytrundle wrote:just bought a large piece of mozzerella cheese reduced

I like to freeze cheese especially as it matures it quicker and it starts to crumble giving it a mature flavour.
Just to add, whenever you're in the supermarket check the section where the reduced items are as there is a lot of goods that can be frozen.
Pizza's, meat, cheese, butter, margerine, cakes, breads, vegetables, cream etc.
However I would not freeze potatoes, leave that to the experts.0 -
I seem to remember that people on here have successfully frozen mozzarella cheese? I got 4 reduced organic ones today, too good a bargain to miss, but how do I freeze them? In the bag, or remove from bag? As a ball, grated?
Cheers.0 -
hi
I got a load from Lidl recently.
I just bunged them in the freezer in the bags - are coming out fine - defrost in a couple of hours on the bunker."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
like Peem, I got a load from Lidl when they were 28p
& just chuck them in, bag water & all
I never thought of freezing them 'as a ball'
I might give that a try next time, they'd take up less space in the freezer & possibly defrost faster
you could grate it first & freeze it loose in a tub if you think you might only want a tablespoon or two at a time & a whole one would be too much0 -
Yeah, I freeze it all the time too. As long as you allow it to defrost naturally it retains it's original flavour so it's great for using in a salad0

I defrosted one in the micro yesterday, wasn't paying attention & the liquid boiled :rolleyes:Ruby_Pudding wrote:Yeah, I freeze it all the time too. As long as you allow it to defrost naturally it retains it's original flavour so it's great for using in a salad
fortunately I was using in in a Hash Brown Casserole, so it being warmed up a bit didn't matter too much
