The point is that they will not come back with a policeman.
the fact that their database is a mess doesn't help them.

See my post on the "Vent" thread about how accurate their database is !

  • I think that you did the right thing. ive got a tv license which runs out in march and i pay quartley for it, i cancelled the direct debit which isn't due till march after i made the payment in december as i have a new bank account, straight away they wrote to me to say you have cancelled your direct debit. Ive been trying to get in touch with them to give them my new bank details and it keeps saying try later they are busy grrrrrr

I've done exactly the same - but not continued with the Direct Debit - my reasoning? I understand they charge you an additional £1.25 per quarter for the option - also, I understand that the work was going abroad - along with your personal details.

pay the license? Just a thought

True, but these people don't have any equipment, or, if they do, it isn't connected in a way, which requires a licence. If Capita had their way, every household in the country would require one, regardless.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Users of 3's just-announced mobile television service will break TV licensing laws if they view the service on a mobile while it is plugged in at unlicensed premises. While the phone runs on its own batteries it does not need its own licence.
They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it

Have they been to your house and been allowed in?

I dont live there to let anyone in! - the electric is unsafe there is no heating and I'm knocking the plaster off the walls. I currently work 7 days a week so I only goto the house when I book time off work to do more work on the house.

I have very little time to spend ages trying to ring them. In the end my mother has eventually got an answer from them.

Isnt it stupid evilgoose, honestly i think a gov department should lookinto the tv licence as they are simply getting away with what they want.

    another visit!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus this lot is becoming obsessive. Iv just called them and they said why don't you simply let them in. My bloody was boiling at this point, My reply was, you are not gaining entry to my property to check if a tv is there. Very simple. He replied well he can come in, and it was just going on and on. I said I don't have to prove anything if a tv is been used, if you need proof you send out a tv van and check the signal OTHERWISE YOU ARE NOT GAINING ENTRY SIMPLE AS. Honestly i'm bloody sick of them, enough is enough.

The reason why the phone running on its own batteries doesn't need its own licence in the above case is because it is about the phone being used by someone who lives in premises which do have a TV licence. It's no use saying you don't need a licence simply because it is a mobile phone, you also have to be covered by a licence.
