  • Now watched the programme and the More show too, well done to everyone especially the participants who were brave enough to talk about their debt.
  • I think it has definitely improved a lot since the first one (sorry missed last week's). I think the focus on debt is good since it affect so many people. And the presentation style was a lot more relaxed which was great. I did really like the real live example (well done IA) and the tester lady.

The celeb slot isn't working though (sorry!) you can see them sitting there thinking 'what's £100 these days'. And since the audience is seeing through their eyes we are also asking the same question. It also is suffering most from the speed of the programme I think - I'd guess non website users would have been a bit confused by it as well. I wonder if it's better to do an insert slot of opening the purse/wallet of a random person on the street instead? That way you'd have the benefit of editing for clarity too. And personally I quite like voxpops.

Also as a personal bugbear, the pig flying logo looks cheap cheap cheap and I think is bringing down the tone of the show.....

Will continue to watch though...it's good to see it's improving all the time. And that the MSE lives what he preaches (small steps adding up to big improvements!)

The programme is brilliant, though thankfully Martin's not so fast now as he was the first week, but we put that down to him wishing (for our sakes) to cram as much information in as is possible. We tape it each week, that way we can soon be certain of anything we're unsure of. I just hope Martin keeps the programmes up, he's a genius!

  • Well, I had a fab day at the studio today, just gutted I had be rushed away for my flight home to Glasgow, and doubly gutted I didnt get a piccy wth Ruth and Martin, never mind, The crew and everyone were so nice too, what a team!!! A whirlwind few hours but great nonetheless, there was just not enough time to discuss my situation, everything moved so fast, but I know my solutions now and I'll get through the financial overhaul bit by bit. WAY HAY hopefully have my finances sorted out alot sooner than I originally thought xxx
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL INVOLVED!!!! XXX...........Goes off to bed now....with a head full of good memories of a great day!! Night night all, or should I say Good Morning? hahaha xxx

I have to say I'm agreeing with the views on the celebrity slots. I kinda liked last weeks slot, thought the guy was very honest and open about his finances, but the other 2 just seemed pointless to most people out there.
If we must have celebrities then how about ones giving us a moneysaving tip they use? Sorry but am struggling to find use for them saving thousands a year when we all know that they probably earn a darned site more than most people out there.
Also the comments about the speed, Martin you DO still speak fast but you're getting better! We know you have a lot to fit into the program but even my OH who's a fast talker a lot fo the time says "blooming heck he's waffling at some speed ain't he?" - you'll get there tho I am sure!
And hopefully I'll be there on Wednesday and i might just bring a sign with me saying "SLOW DOWN!" :rotfl:

I watched for the first time last night, as a long-time MSE member and subscriber to Martin's email, plus purchaser of the books. Mrs DS watched, too. We both strongly support the work Martin and this forum do to promote financial awareness.

In our opinions, far, far too much info was presented at far, far too great a speed. As Martin knows better than anyone, finance is found confusing by so many. Surely what they want are things spelled out slowly and clearly - not so slowly that we fall asleep, of course, but you know what I mean.

I felt that the programme was aimed at people who enjoy that double-glazing ad ("You buy one, you get one free!!") - except the info in that ad really is hammered home!!

It was far too frantic for us, and I'll only be watching if I know an MSE-er who's appearing.

    really like this idea.
Trying to be good, not always succeeding. :A:beer:
  • I really enjoyed the show last night, probably my favourite one yet, but then the debt stuff is the most relevant stuff to me at the moment. I just wish the show was longer :(

Sorry to have missed IA's video clip, but how cool is that photo!
