Congratulations on a good show that really does effect virtually everyone.
Just one thing has distracted me in the last three episodes: In the news section I just cant help watch your eyebrows raise synchronously with the music of intense urgency. :money: I think its my problem more than yours.
Keep up the good work.0 -
A good programme I thought. Getting better each week. Still a little fast and loud though!
The audience now had a good reason to be there. But I was alarmed to read many of them were not "specially selected". Inevitably one or two found themselves in embarrassing situations.
The celebrity wallet item did seem rushed - and I'm beginning to agree with those who feel that most of the celebs would think of £100 as loose change. Unfortunately a famous face is probably thought to increase viewer numbers.0 -

Yes we were not 'specially selected' did not think it was going to show how much debt we were in! or what catogory we would be in - my boyfriend in the 'debt crisis group' was scared stiff - I was having a panic attack in group 2 'surviviors' watching him, thinking of all the friends and family I told to watch the programme!!
We are laughing about it now after telling the friends and families he accendently stood in the wrong group but couldnt get out of it as there was only 2 of them:o!
We still enjoyed it and are very greatful for this website and all the help Martin has given us over the last 6 months to get us out of debt crisis!! for the record there were at least 2 other people there i spoke to that were in debt crisis but didnt want it shown on TV so stood in the wrong groups!0 -
Is the programme repeated at all?0

Well, I decided to take some time to think things over before posting about the show, as I left the recording with mixed feelings.
I wanted to list some good things and some bad things
Good Things- It was great to see how a TV show is put together
- If was fun to be part of the show
- It was nice to finally meet Martin, thank you Martin for taking the time after filming to meet us. I know you are very busy and I think we all appreciated you spending some time with us.
- It was wrong to say it was a specially selected group when it wasn’t
- Thanks to this site I cleared all my debts over a year ago, but due to the groups we were put into in the show, I had loads of friends/family and people at work saying they couldn’t understand how I was still in debt. Very annoying.
- There should have been an additional group for people who had no debts on cards as well. You could have said we should look at stoozing, which would have been a good introduction for next week’s show.
I have to admit that I’m not sure I will be requesting any more tickets for the shows as I don’t want to have to keep explaining that I am not in debt or whatever the weeks subject is over and over again.
But in the end, it is still a great show, I just think the potential studio audience needs to be told more of what they are letting themselves in for.Looking to raise some money0 -
Damn well said Shawz, you have summed up my feelings much better than I did:o:rolleyes:.Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
I think you should find a celebrity who is not so well off now, the money for coming on the show may help them and you may get an angle from someone who once had no money worries and then found out how people get into dept.
Last weeks was a waste of time, just looking at a purse.0 -

I'm now off to get rid of this cloth cap and Yorkshire-like accent while I'm at it.
Martin, the show's getting better each week, so you and Ruth keep doing what you're doing.
As for the speed of your speech, perhaps imagine that you're a guest rather than the presenter - you do speak at a more normal pace when you're on with, for example, Jeremy Vine or Matthew Wright. And my ears are starting to adjust to your pace.
I don't find it too hard because I listen to Mrs Mothballs when she's talking Russian to learn the proper pronounciations of everything, and she speaks even faster than you do (if that's possible!).

I find myself watching Martin's eyebrows and totally forgetting to listen:rolleyes: :rotfl:

Not sure this really 'works' on TV, especially for dumbed-down British TV. I can see why Martin jumped through the hoops of having a 'celeb' on the programme, vox-pop and the manic pace in order to be green-lighted.
The MSE web-site and 'Money Box' on R4 will be fine for me.0
