Reverse Parking - moneysaving? even for me?

Whilst this is indeed all very entertaining, I wasn't asking for a judgement on whether it is smarter or safer to reverse park into a bay - perhaps I didn't make this clear at the start. If so, I apologise.
But is it money-saving? The IAM suggests that it is (warm engine / cold engine thing) but I was wondering just how money-saving. And whether it any benefit was negated by an extra "shuffle" manouvre to straighten up.
And please don't reply that it won't save me money if my insurance premiums increase because I hit someone when reversing out. I'm just asking about fuel used & wear-and-tear on engine during the manouvre.
Thanks go out to those who have already addressed this particular question.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I heard that turning the radio off saves fuel (less strain on the engine):j0

I think that it doesn't really matter whether you reverse in or not but whether you make alot of manoevres to get it parked. Turning the radio off would probably help Clarejane concentrate moreGenie

I can't believe that the fuel economists are not online tonight, as this theory has not been as yet, answered.
I reverse parked again at work today and didn't notice the fuel gauge to be any different from that of previous day. Previous day and Monday, I also reverse parked.
I've heard, rumour I know, that goldspanner reverse parks to spare strain on his engine.
Could've been neck....Genie

No - not money saving. Warm engine cold engine thing makes no difference. The overall distance travelled by the car remains the same and the car will have to warm up after the cold start in any event. Shuffle will negate any possible minute benefit if there ever was one. To put this all in context, an average MSE car will cost approx 10p per mile. Say you travel an extra 20m in all your 'shuffling'. This would be an additional cost of approx 1/1000 of 1p.0 -
