Oh and at the moment i'm loving tinned plum tomatoes on toast ...........

That reminds me of when I was a kid back in the sixties. A cheap Saturday teatime snack was tinned tomatoes gently heated through and cubes of cheese stirred through just before piling it onto toast. I can almost hear the Sports Report music on the radio!

I love tinned tomatoes, with grated cheese on toast.

I quite like the Lidl ones. Though I have to say I prefer to use passata for sauces and cooking than tinned toms.

I'm not a fan of thick/rich tomato sauces - so it's Asda SP for me - if you leave the pan uncovered, they do reduce down - given time.

I just had Tesco's tinned toms on toast for my lunch. I found a can at the back of the cupboard. They were really salty!

I used to think that all tinned tomatoes were the same until I tried the Tarantella organic chopped toms from costco - I can't remember how much they are but I know they compare well to the ones on offer....you do have to buy 12 though!!!
NO EXCUSES - THIS YEAR IT'S PERSONAL..........

I can't remember the last time I bought tinned tomatoes. Passata seems to do everything they do, only taste better, cost less and create no waste. By the time you've removed the water and reduced the tinned ones, there just isn't much left.

Where a pizza used to take 3-4 tins of tomatoes to top, largely because you have to throw away all the water in the tins and reduce the tomatoes in a pan, I can now buy a 700ml bottle of 55p passata which is not only thick enough to pour straight on the pizza, but also leaves enough to make two more large pizzas. Leftover passata freezes very well, so I always buy the big bottles and freeze whatever is left over.
