Waitrose OB or Napolina - the Asda Napolina offer sounds good to me!
  • I tend to use the Napolina ones but i only buy them when they're on offer, i have at least 25 tins of them in the cupboard at the moment and when they get low i stock up from wherever is cheapest, between Asda, Tescos and Morrisons somewhere always has them on offer :)

I got most of my store last time they were on 12 for £3, works out to 25p per tin which is cheaper than Asda's own at 3 for £1 and i've tried both Asda and Tesco value ones and wasn't keen on either.

  • Another vote for Sainsburys Basics tomatoes - I do sometimes buy Napolina ones on offer *contemplates trip to Asda ;)* Like moanymoany I had several tins of Tesco Value tomatoes which were all juice and no tomatoes - if I wanted tomato juice I'd buy exactly that! :D

If we are having them with something like bacon & eggs we have napolina/ciro or some other decent ones.
I keep a tin in which i will buy when they are on offer and save it.
If they are in something like spag bol or chilli then i use smartprice/ bettabuy or some other cheapies.
At the moment smartprice plum tomatoes are cheaper than the chopped ones so i buy the tins of plum and squidge them up.

Just been to Asda, no Napolina on offer I could see

I use them in any sauce type thing I make.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
  • If you're using tinned toms for a pasta sauce, or casserole etc it might pay to add a tblsp of tom puree to give oomph to the flavour. Could work out to more MSE than paying for more expensive tinned toms.

Napolina in my local independent supermarket are 56p a tin  compared with Lidl at around 17/19p!

Napolina packs of 4 are half price in Morrisons at the moment. They taste really good.

    And in Tescos.

They are the best ones IMO and the only ones I buy

Not showing as an offer on the website either - OB at 3 for £1 only tinned tomato offer.

......sauces, casseroles, ratatouille type things, soupe de poisson, paella...usually have a stock of frozen home grown toms but last season was so poor that ran out long ago!
