OS Daily thread 23rd January 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 23rd January 2008. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Does it count if you fell asleep in an armchair?

Anyway, Happy Birthday to our own, very, very special AussieLass!!:D :D :bdaycake: :bdaycake: :bdaycake:

Goodness, if you eat that lot, you'll be as big as a house!!!!

Yes, I awoke to find out I'd fallen asleeep in the chair:o

DH obviously gave up all hope of waking me and went to bed:rotfl: :rotfl:

I've just enjoyed a long phonecall to DS1 in Canada, only just gone 9 pm there;)

I do find all these timezones VERY confusing. That's my excuse for having woken the whole of a dormitory in Oz at 3am:o :o:o Nobody should have DSs in different timezones.

Feeling tired now, what's the betting as soon as my head hits the pillow............
Ah well, Goodnight!

I too am in the armchair ( well sofa ) club. But i was reading at the time. I know i should of gone to bed,but must of been too comfy in my snuggle blanket and drifted off.
I think i had better scoot off to bed too since i have to get the children up for school. On the upside though.WM is on as is the dryer.DW is humming away and i have set the breadmaker to come on in half an hour. At least i can have an extra cup of tea in the morning now ;)

Morning Churchmouse, chocolate orange and all to follow,

I haven’t been around for ages because real life has been getting in the way. So I’m sorry if I’ve missed something important. :o

I’ve been up to my eyes lately and today will be no different…

I’m off to my monthly team meeting this morning followed by a training session, then lunch with an old friend. Wednesday is ds2’s marathon homework night so I’ll help him with that while making tea, before they all go off to Scouts/Beavers etc.

This evening I’m off to work….hopefully I won’t make the same mistake that I did last night. :o

I was given a new patient on my list….The call was way out in the countryside about 20 miles from where I live, but the directions were very explicit. Just before the 30 mile an hour sign you’ll see a Farm house. There are two gates, One on the left and one on the right. If the gate on the left is open you can take your car in. There may be some cows in the yard. If you use the gate on the right you can’t take your car in but you can walk (however it’s unlit and you will need a torch).

Anyway….I came across a farmhouse with two gates just before a 30mph sign….didn’t fancy groping about in the dark in the lane on foot so I drove into the yard, smiled nervously at the cows and even more nervously at the sheep dog. Made my way to the back door. Knocked. No reply. Opened the door…..called ‘hello’ a couple of times. Still no reply. Saw a light on in the kitchen so headed for that shouting all the time, no one there. I heard a TV in the next room and opened the door, to be greeted by the four pairs of eyes. It was a family, minding their own business and watching TV. I was in the wrong bleeping farmhouse…the one I was meant to be in was 6 miles down the road. Thankfully they were very understanding and didn't have me arrested. :o Tonight can only be better!

Aussie, Happy Birthday! I hope you have a fantastic day! :bdaycake:

Morning all, and Happy Birthday AussieLass :)

I'm struggling with sleep these days; I'm working long hours for the next couple of months and find it hard to relax at night. I decamped to the back bedroom last night and managed 4 hours which is better than nothing, I suppose.

So I'm not full of the joys of spring today. Thankfully I have Friday off work and my sister's going to help me do more decluttering.

My system isn't awake enough yet to decide what's happening foodwise today. Got a Sainsburys order coming between 7.00 and 8.00 tonight, and the house is remaining in a reasonable state, primarily because I'm too tired to do anything in the evenings!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUSSIE:beer: have a lovely day.

Talking about dirty properties, I have always left wherever I am clean. Have to say when I moved in with OH and my two Step-Sons, this place was minging, although it looked clean on the surface:eek: . Still can't get rid of the smell of pee in the bathroom, no matter how hard I scrub and what I use. .
Not a lot planned today as I'm working tonight. Need to go to farm shop for veggies and do some studying. Will go to bed later.

Have soaked some yellow split peas and will make a dhal out of them in a minute, also have some turkey to make into a curry in SC. WM is on and should be finished shortly.

Have a good day all :A xxxx

Aussielass, happy birthday - though I suspect that it's just about over now thanks to the time difference. Hope you had a good one anyway.

    Churchie, two words....TENA LADY!!

    Pink, lol you're funny!!

Real life is happening in SnowyOwl-ville as well. You've heard it before and you'll probably hear it again, but my job is driving me potty. Wish me luck in searching for a new and improved one.

    Bye

    Good Morning All

Have a great Birthday Aussielass  , hope you celebrate with something more than lettuce soup.

mrs-mix - hope the nurse is kind today.

Up early today as couldnt sleep as so much going through my mind. Need to do online banking this morning then the rest of the day will be packing - one of my least favourite jobs.

Have all the paperwork and money sorted and have checked it at least 5 times & probably will check it about 10 more times before we go.

We are staying in a hotel at Gatwick tonight as we have a early flight so no more cooking, housework or paperwork for 15 days!

Hope you all have great days - off to get DD out of bed.
