Great idea on paying a wee bit off as you have it as you are not tempted to spend it on whatever.

I have had a letter through the other day from Virgin offering a BT...0.9% until July. I was in the process of cancelling cards especially Virgin as the interest rate is usually really high, something like 34%! They are charging a 2.5% fee too...trying to work out if I should BT from one of the two HSBC cards for a little while? They are at £6500 and £4500 each with the Virgin limit being £2800. I suppose I could transfer £2500 and at least it would mean hardly any interest for 9 months and then I could transfer it back again at the end if needed? Dunno which card to do it on though? Probably the £4500 as that would mean it would be cleared quicker as that was gonna be the one I focused on after M & S, leaving the £6500 till the end. The interest rates are the same on both HSBC cards...mmmmmm!:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0

Hi Donner what is the interest rate on the HSBC cards? You need to work out how much 9 mths of that interest rate would be on the £2800 and then you will see how much you will save taking off the 2.5% fee. I bet it will be quite alot.
Well done on paying so much off the M&S card already.

The interest rate on the HSBC cards are 19.9%...what do I do next? Times that by the £2,800 and then minus the 2.5% fee?:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0

Ha ha! Oakey dokey! I reckon I have to times 19.9% by £2800 then divide by 12 to get monthly amount and do the same for the 0.9% and then take that figure away to see what I could save...but then add on the fee? Mmmm I wish I had paid more attention in maths...only maths I like to work out is how much I will save in the sales:j 'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' - DFW Nerd member 866 :j0
