• Go for it with the car, you need to stop feeling so isolated and this is the way to do it, your family will help you feel better by visiting them that is very obvious from your posts. You have worked so bloody hard at that test you deserve to reap the rewards. So you say passing your test is the only thing good that has happened in a long time but the next best thing is being able to afford to get a car now you've passed so theres 2 good things. Don't forget there is a Motorting Thread on the Forum so if you need any advice re cars post on there for help.

Have you decided which card to tackle next or were you having a complete rest from everything?

Didn't realise about the Motoring thread...mad hope you can spend so long on a forum and then find other sections of it that you didn't even know existed!
Have been umming and arring about the Virgin card or one of the HUGE HSBC cards...the virgin car has horrendous APR but the HSBC cards are so dam massive it is unreal. Least with them the interest would go down I suppose...this overtime money should help and also have about an extra £100 due to in my wage packet this month from so overtime ages ago so that will help. I should really be putting more away for Xmas really...I only put money away for Emily's birthday and Xmas but as from next year, will be putting money away for everyones...e.g. rest of the family.
Am due a payrise in October so that is all good...my childcare costs will be decreasing too, so need to let the Tax Credit peeps no everything and reckon that I will probably break even or hopefully be a little better off with the payrise? Mmmm will have to see!
Another good thing is that my mountain bike will be paid up in the next few months so that is good. Money comes direct from my wages so can't wait for that to finish! Will still cycle to work when I get a car as would be so much quicker than driving as live near a majorly busy road which gets FULL of traffic at 8:30am!
Am gonna await September's card bills and work out what best to do...xxx

Helloooo again Donna...nice to see you back!!

And what fab news about your driving test - you must feel so chuffed!!! The car sounds good, just what you need. I was planning on buying a new car with money from the house sale but decided against it for now - mt little P-reg Corsa does me fine! Just taxed it for another year, so maybe next summer will see about another car!

Is Emily excited about school? When does she go? G is next fri, just the Yr 7s in that day so that'll be a gentle start. It's the Mon when all the big people are in that I'll be worrying about hahaha. She got her bus pass the other day (free coaches) but all her friends seem to be on the other bus, bless her. but they all go from the same stop. To be honest I think it's me that's more worried about it all!!!

Been quite good money-wise recently, not spent too much these hols. Good job too as the pr@t of an ex has lost his job so thats my £320 maintenance out the wondow. So keeping a very close eye on the money and bank balance at the mo, no non-essential spends for the mo. (Says she who was eyeing up the GHD straighteners online yesterday hahaha - but I didnt buy!)

Anyway, good to see your thread back in action....bye for now;)
I really need to sort out a new signature!

Loving the avatar...Hello Kitty rocks :) plan to fill my new car (when I get one) full of Hello Kitty bits and bobs and anything furry and fluffy and cuddly etc! Can't wait! My brother has been umming and arring about his Corsa too! Him and the misses are thinking about having another bambino and he said he thought they would need a larger car, but I told him that babies always need a lot but then as they get bigger, they need less so he doesn't know what to do! I too have been looking at a little Corsa in case the thing with the Fiesta falls through...such a hassle isn't it! I kinda wish a car would just arrive at my house and would save me looking!
Yep Emily can't wait! She doesn't start till the 4th September and like G, will be the only year group in for the first day, better that way I think too! I am sure that we are more worried than what they are!!!
What a mare about the ex...grrrrrr! Hope you get it sorted soon, this time of year is always expensive for us as parents too.
We are like one of the same as I was eyeing up some GHD's on ebay this week...but refrained :( One day!!!
I have been looking online for cheap recipes but have found nowt but rubbish! Oh well, I am gonna make another cup of tea and chill out before back to work tomorrow! Keep looking out of the window at my back garden...I sooooo need to get a rake and get it sorted...or maybe I will just pull the curtains shut! ;) Take care :) xxx

• Oh well done Donna, i knew you could do it. and you have saved up for a car as well..go you!

Why not put up another SOA, then you can see how far you have come..and the siggy looks good..so keep reminding yourself how much you have changed your finances and how much you have achieved.

Only this morning I was looking at your thread and wondering how you were. SO pleaseed that you have finally passed the driving test which will give you some deserved freedom to see your family. Not long now till the half, hows your training going? I was starting to dread the thought of it but I ran 10 miles today and 12 last week so I think I can probably manage it. I know I will be really really slow but my aim is just to get around!
Hope that a little car comes your way..and its realiable and cheap!

Hiya BOB! Yep had the money saved for ages and ages as took my first failed test in December! Have been sat on the money for ages and thought if I didn't pass this time I was gonna give up and use the money to put towards a card but then kept telling myself if I did that, I wouldn't be able to get my hands on the cash straight off again for a long time!
Planning to do a proper SOA soon, straight after I have found out what the heck will happen with regards to the Tax Credits and payrise etc and how much the little car will cost me. It's so hard sometimes trying to sort all this mess out single handed and I am so glad I have peeps on here to help me! xxx

• All in time Donna, i think it will be a good excercise even if you keep it to yourself as then you can see how much you have achieved.

Hiya Sallyx!
Training HAD been going well, did over 11 miles last week, did a 5 miler on Tuesday, 4 miler on Friday and meant to run yesterday but have had a dodgy tummy upset for the last few days which has meant that I haven't been well enough to run yesterday or today so have missed out on my long run :( Am annoyed at myself but being poorly can't be helped so need to get back to it tomorrow and make sure that I do a long run on Sunday before I start to taper off. You will be fine if you managed those! I know speed wise I am slow too, but like you just want to get round and will be planning on soing some speedwork afterwards to prepare for the Castle Coombe 10k race in November to see if I have improved on my speed. I have promised myself that this time I won't give up for ages and will continue running straight after I have finished the half as all the other times I don't run for weeks and then have lost the strength and mileage in my legs!
Have had an email from the person selling the Fiesta and they have sent me their number to arrange a viewing...I am scared :( feel silly but I am! Know I will be doubly scared when I first drive on my own and even more so when I have to get petrol for the first time...what if I get it wrong? Sounds silly I know! :o xxx
