Heya everyone! Hope we have all had a nice Easter break?

Spent the whole on Saturday with the boyf, sorting out the back and front garden. It took us ages, pulling out all the brambles and weeds and thorns etc from the back and then going over the long grass with a strimmer and then the mower. Nice and short now but still has a lot to be done! I really wanna get some nice solar panel lights for the path and a lush bbq and some patio furniture etc now that that area is clean! It was awful before, really old double matress out there with loads of junk and a FILTHY patio bit. Now after removing all of that and getting rid of all the brambles and power washing it all down, looks great!

Yesterday Em's was feeling a bit poorly and then I started to feel a bit cacky too! Feeling better today, if not just a little tired! Was chatting with the boyf last night who mentioned that his Aunty, Uncle etc were off to a holiday villa in Spain in the summer with their 2 kiddies and that we could go too if we wanted?!?!? Would be cheap as divided up costwise and it has its own pool, jacuzzi and everything! Me and Em's have never been on a proper holiday before. I have only done the following in my 29 years of being on this earth!!! 1 week to Greece when I was 6, 3 days in Germany at 12, 2 days in Paris when I was 26, 3 days in Poland for my 28th birthday. Emily has only had the 2 days in Paris...rubbish! So chances are we are gonna be off to Spain then!

Beautiful day today! I am trying to get lots of washing done and then probably end up at Tesco as haven't really been organised with the food shop this week! Was meant to go on Friday, but we decided to go out for a nice lunch down by the riverside, then bowling with a group of mates and then a takeout! So a pretty hectic Friday and rather costly too :( But deserve a bit of fun every now and again!

Gonna check out the money side of stuff tomorrow when the bank has had time to update itself after all the bank holidays! Will be getting paid in 2 weeks so not expecting any overpayments this month if I am honest! Ho hum!

Still have tomorrow off work as the Uni is shut for the Tuesday too...they do this every year! So looking forward to 2 more days of chilling out!

Righteo, off to have a shower and get out of my PJ's!!! Take care all xxx

  • Oh that sounds great the chance to go to Spain. It might mean a couple of months of no over payments but the main thing is the debt IS being paid and it is going down and it is manageable. You will get back to the overpayments when you can.

I think I have mentioned it before but you could earn some extra money by doing some AQA in the evenings or maybe starting Matched Betting? Maybe it could pay for your holiday with using your wages? Just a thought.

    Take care

    Heya KM,

Is the matched betting thing very straightforward? I looked into it a little while ago and got a bit confused! I will try looking at it again!

Gonna try wacking a few bits on the ol' fleabay tomorrow as have lent the boyf my camera for the weekend. Could do with making a few more £££ ready for the holiday!

I have been looking at the money situation this month and reckon that I am gonna give paying my Car Insurance outright a miss and pay in installments when it is due in September. That will stop me having to put aside as much money each month. Just until I get myself sorted.

I have enough to pay off the £45 for Emily's day trip to France as I had paid the £20 deposit last month. So that's all good.

I *hope* with some very very careful budgeting, to have the money for me and Em's to stay in the villa in Spain, leaving just flights to sort out. Gonna book the flights as soon as poss to try and get them cheaper.

I was planning it to be a surprise but she saw this page of my diary on the computer screen so found out about it herself! Little madam!

Very excited about going on our first proper holiday together! Yay!

So won't be any overpayments this month but hey, at least Spain should be partly paid off and her French trip too. That's all good.

I have been feeling really carp the last few days...very poorly :( but am starting to feel better now. Horrible bug which Em's seemed to have over Easter...made me feel very guilty as I done nothing but tried to force her to eat etc to get better and it was a horrible bug and when I got it I couldn't eat either!

Em's is having her mate over tonight for a sleepover so she is a happy bunny. Should allow me time to chill too and hopefully get completely back to normal!

    Hope everyone is well xxx

Hello Mrs......nice to see you back;)
Sorry to hear you've not been well...I had a carp few weeks too, darn Crohn's it turned out to be, but am on steroids now so full of energy and recovering well!!

Very exciting about your holiday - same as me, no overpayments, but to pay off the holiday is fab isn't it? We do deserve it don't we and definitely the kids do:D

Also it's both my girls' birthdays in May (what bad planning eh:rolleyes:) - so not a cheap month for me. our holiday payment due at the end of May, so I will have to be very good with the money this month to pay it all!

Go on, get listing on ebay - I sold about £30 worth last week, just clothes of Em's really and got more stuff on now. It's sooo boring taking the pics and listing but once it's on I get so excited watching bidders appear and weatching the items end........lord how sad am I??!!?:rotfl:

And matched betting - I MUST read thro' the stuff again, I *think* I get it all, but worried about starting!

    Heya MS,

Good to hear you are starting to feel better :) Being ill is such a huge pain in the bum :( especially when you have kiddies to look after too...

I was kinda chuffed thinking I would be able to use the money as overpayments, then remembered the holiday! So best use it for getting that out of the way and just leaves the flights to sort...yep, we deffo all deserve holidays don't we! Overpayments will start again soon, just like you think I should go for this as opportunity like it won't be around for a bit really! Such a crackin' deal and go chance for us all to spend some quality together.

Drat to both birthdays being in May! Do you put money aside for them each month? I used to out have been a bit lapse recently so need to sort that out! Reckon I could just sqeeze the money out of the budget this month though! :) Back date it ready for October and Xmas too! Only put money aside for Em's pressies though...but hopefully next year, will start doing that for everyones pressies.

Well done on the fleabay sales! I am the same...hate the faff of listing but enjoy watching them finish...and hopefully getting the money!!!

You back at work on Monday? xxx

    Heya MS,

You back at work on Monday? xxx

I certainly am - haven't worked since March13th aswas off sick - so have had the equivalent of the summer hols off:eek: I'm looking forward to it, love my job when I'm well enough! I need adult company again;)

And no, I've not put birthday money away....silly me:o But should be ok, out of my tax credits, but just wont be able to put as much aside for the holiday. Still, once May is over I'll have the bdays and holiday pid so even if I use some savings to pay for the hol I'll just replace it in June....should be ok! I have £500 saved since Jan anyway for the hol and owe nearly £800, so not too bad. Better than on the credit card eh?

  • Hi Donner

You need to read and read the MB stuff, have a read of Benbens diary for some inspiration she is doing really well with it and I am sure she wouldn't mind giving you some tips.

As for paying the car insurance in installments, I always do that. I just see it as another necessity direct debit like water and gas and elec I never pay it in a lump sum.

Will do KM ta! Suppose I should see it as just another bill...at least I hope it goes down this year rather than up!!! I paid it all off as a lump payment as had money left from the car savings after bagging lovely Mikey!
