Do you know what Donner that is all so positive :D Really nice to hear that everyone is supportive and proud of you, quite right too :A It must be nice that the debt is out in the open and not a secret as I think adds to the pressure for some people.

Juggling 8 cards must have been a mare so I can understand the beauty of 2 cards. Will there be any possibility of shuffling cards to reduce interest rates or will you be leaving them as they are?

And yay to boyfriend helping out with DD :T

I will never forget the look on my dad's face when I told him how much debt I was in...I had to as knew he would be watching the tele when I was talking about my debt. He thought it was only a few thousand. I fel like such a huge dissapointment, especially as my dad saw my ex for what he really was all those years ago...I wish I had of listened but we all need to make our own mistakes I suppose :(

8 cards was a complete mare as even though they were very small repayments, the interest etc soon adds up especially when you make a payment and nearly all of it bar a few pence, goes on as interest after! I reckon I am deffo on track for clearing the M & S card and know that the last 2 cards will be very slow going...one has £6500 on and the other has £4500 so will be hitting the £4500 first. But reckon it will take me to the end of 2009 to clear...then 2010 will be the last card and the end of my bank loan!

I am going to write and cancel all the left over cards and then might try applying for another one in a few months or so...just to see if I can get a deal. Wonder how long I should leave it after cancelling the old ones? Mmmmm?

  • Just caught up Donna, as been down to DD1's for a few days last week..i waved as i went by.

Just to reiterate, i bet your dad is really proud as you have managed to get through this with dignity and courage..in spite of ex. You have also managed a life, brought up daughter and budget, reckon he will be asking your advice in a bit..lol.

With regards to the cards, i would leave three months and check credit apply if you feel that there is a good chance and remember that they all use different scoring systems. I am sure you may well be able to get a better deal and can then chuck more at the debt.

  • Hiya everyone!

Gawd I haven't been on here for ages! Been mega busy with work and home life etc I haven't had a moment to myself!!! Looking forward to next week though as have the week off to spend with Emily!

Not much been happening apart from the usual! Have had a fab time with the snow last week especially as work was shut for 2 days so got to have a nice few days away from work.

Have been flogging more bits on ebay and have made another £125! Should have been £140 but yet another person not paid up. I am getting mighty fed up of no payers.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

That will be going to the card and I reckon that I can have it gone by the end of the month, as will have overtime payment and no Council Tax or water bill etc so that will all help.

I have however ordered Emily a cheap single bed as am in the process of decorating her room. Have stripped wallpaper, fillerd in holes (well tried to!) and sanded them down so am ready to get painting next week. Have picked a gorgeous colour which Emily loves...kinda reddy purple! So she will be having a basic single bed and I am getting rid of the double one as she really doesn't need it and it take up the whole room! Means she will also need new bedding etc so am hunting around for cheap deals at the mo. I feel guilty getting her a cheap basic bed from Tesco, but won't be forever as when the debt is sorted, I will get her a nice new one...just needs must at the mo :(

Soooo glad ebay has been going well. I have a few electrical bits I am gonna take to a shop in town to flog and will hopefully get about £35/40 for them. That will help towards the haircut fund! Either way we are both having a haircut...must book them tomorrow!

I have been going slightly over my food budget this week as have been having mates over for tea! Have a girly mate coming over tomorrow and can't wait to see her! She always brings wine and chocolate...yummy!

Hope everyone one is well, better go as have to wrap ebay parcels before bed!

    Take care all xxx
