  • My neighbour has got a litter of brilliant Giant French Lops at the minute!
  • My 2 bunnies are easter bunnys! But they were born at easter lol!
You should be fine if you do your research and it sounds like you have!

Congrats to the mummy :T !!

I love our rabbits to bits! They make such lovely pets! If you have any trouble getting them new homes let us know! I already have 3 and i love each one of them! All three have had there jabs and 2 have been 'done' and im thinking of getting the other female done but shes about 2 and a half yr old rescue anyone think i should get her done? Just to protect her against cancers and illnesses etc? At the moment i think i will get her done but i was wondering if she was maybe a bit too old? and it might cause her more stress then she needs? Any advise?

I would spend the money all over again if i had too! i LOVE baby bunnies.. Well any bunnies actually!!! lol

Hi all just opened the door and peeped in there is still movement in the nest ,so far so good. Not sure if they are all still alive as I would have to disturb the nest to find out.Ihave put a lanket over the top of the hutch and poped in lots of hay.Whenever the mummy sees me sheruns to nest so think that a good sign. Thanks 4 all the advice:T

You can (and may have to) touch them before 10 days. Generally once they have hair you can handle them.

occasionally the mother will hop away while feeding them and babies will hold on and fall off elsewhere in the hutch. If this happens, she won't pick them back up, you have to pick them up and put them back in the nest.

It's a good idea to let mum out her hutch during the day, she will feel uncomfortable in with them as it's not natural to her.

I'd also advise getting a larger metal bowl, those rabbit will start eating soon (and mum will eat almost double her normal amount) and a bigger bowl means you won't have to constantly refill it.

And then you have to start looking for homes and think about neutering both mum and dad to avoid a repeat.

Moneysavingstudent. I'd get her done. that way she can play with your other rabbits and won't bully them! She is far from too old and as you said, it is a good idea health wise. Plus they are more loving after having been neutered.
  • Glad to hear bunnies are doing well by the sounds of it!

I think i will get her done, i think ill book her in for her op when i next go to the vet for her second injection. Then she can be a happy bunny and play with the other ones in the run in summer :)
    thanx!

Just a thought, but i hear tell of snow the weekend. If you have any old carpet, or something similar, i would cover your hutch to insulate it.

  • It all depends on how comfy the mother is with you !!! It is a myth that the mother will kill the babies. My babies were only 24 hours old and i was holding them no problems. same with the cat, gerbils, rats, etc.
