Nothing...........'the fund manager is making all the decisions' ;)

.......me personally quite a bit over the past 2 days...about 75% of my cash position (£73k) went into equities (I'm always glad to be wrong :T ....after being involved in the 'markets' for 28 years I have been wrong far more times that I've been right.........it's how you deal with the situation that sorts out the 'men' from the 'boys' )

I havent bought any new S&S for 6 years. All I have been doing is fund switching. I mainly have Neptune Global Equity (but temporarily have some Jupiter Global Managed until i can park my Prot Rights pension into a SIPP. in October). In the last six years I have been steadily building my cash savings component (now about 30% and ideally should be more.)
  • this is a suckers rally which will probably last into the end of february if we are lucky. after that you better batten down the hatches because this bear market is unlikely to be over yet. recession is on the way and when the blood is on the streets the market certainly wont be at the highs.

furthermore, even if the bear move is over, the market isnt going to spring back like it did every time we sold off since 2002, this time things really are different and it will take time for confidence to come back.

Maybe an overstatement....but certainly not a rally that signals the end of the bearish market.

There was a huge amount of buying of S&P futures, which stopped that market tumbling through some important levels which would have signalled the S&P 500 going into full 'Bear' mode...no doubt there will a lot of rumours as to who it was buying the futures, and why

They are not booming or "surging" (S&P, FTSE)since 2001! when priced in gold or real money (and especially gold miners!) they have gone nowhere!.A simple yellow metal but known as the metal of Kings beating the indexes wonder why!?.;)

Shouldn't that be '...I temporarily have some Neptune Global Equity....' - Sorry Wombie couldn't resist.

I am now down to about 10% cash having made some recent purchases, although as many others have said I doubt this is the end of the turmoil. The only thing I'm not sure about is whether there will be another sudden drop or a gradual decline (bear market) over a long(ish) period.

I think May may come early in the financial calander this year.
