You have to wonder about NR don't you just looked at their site saw this:-

imgFixedRateAccesBondHome.pngimgFixedRateAccessBondRateHome.pngCatch it while you can

Our bond is available to new and existing customers and withdrawals can be made without notice or charges. So even though it's fixed, it's still flexible.
Available from 6 February, advanced applications now being accepted.
• choice of annual or monthly interest
• withdrawals can be made without notice or charges
• can be opened with an initial deposit of just £1*
• fixed rate of interest until 20 February 2009

Then went to find out more and got this:-

Introducing a brand new savings product: the Northern Rock Fixed Rate Access Bond, with a guaranteed rate of 6.50% Gross p.a.2/AER4.
• Available to new and existing customers
• Fixed rate of interest until 20 February 2009

In that case you would be better with ICICI Banks' 6.85% bond.

You need to clear your cookies and history and then you wont get the 6.90% bond flyer.
• Oh dear! looks like I was perhaps a little late? Don't know where I stand.

I completed my form online on the 28/01/2008 and then just printed it out and signed it. I didn't post it first class until early this morning with a cheque as I wanted to confirm money in my A&L account was ok for transfer and no loss of interest.

I'm assuming they have a record of the online form as they ask how much are you depositing etc. I'm hoping they will honour mine - I could of course just blame snail mail?

Its all a bit vague...they'll get cheque tommorrow, but funds won't clear until next Thursday (cheque)...they'll probably send it back?
I would normally have a cup of tea
• Depends on how much you are transferring.

Sainsburys charged £18 for the CHAPS transfer which is instant, so no loss of interest. A BACS transfer from Sainsburys today wouldn't be in the account until Wednesday so that's 5 days interest gone.

By my calculations anything over £21900 going from Sainsburys going to the new account covers the CHAPS fee. That doesn't include the 5 days extra interest at 6.9% either.

It's all relative.;)

I did a BACS transfer of £1.01 as a tester from my Sainsburys account to NR tracker last Saturday and it appeared there on Tuesday night about 11pm which is earlier than I expected. However I did do another BACs transfer on Wednesday at 1am but that hasnt appeared yet.

That would have been processed by your bank on Thursday. With the three day clearing system that will not hit you NR account until Monday.
• The three days doesn't include the weekend, though, in my experience.

I transferred the first deposit for my NR account to my Nationwide current account from Sainsburys Internet saver last Friday. It reached my current account on Wednesday. This is three working days which is usual for most banks, hence the 5 days over the weekend I quoted in my example.

what number are you guys calling them on please? I know that none of you will be using 0845 or 0870 ;)

The only number I have here for them is 0845 6007301 and saynoto0870 doesn't list a verified geographic number equivalent for this unfortunately. Searching for a non 0845 number on google hasn't been productive either.
