Have just been told by Northern Rock on the phone that it will close at 5pm today.0

'Tis true, I'm afraid.
Quelle dommage, I was off to the nearest branch tomorrow to deposit money from a matured (31/1/08) bond.
I'll just have to settle for Coventry's 6.4% fogies e-saver instead.0 -
I'm just surprised it has lasted this long!! I got all the forms today in the post.Regarding withdrawal,if you have another Northern Rock account you can send in a form in which you can specify how much and which NR account you want the money transferred to,you don't need to have a cheque sent.I find transferring from my silver saver to the current account only takes 2 days so presume this would be a quicker option than a cheque.
update.Sorry Steve,just read your post stating same.0 -
I've just spoken to someone at Northern Rock about the bond being closed. He told me that the bond was "filling up fast", but said that they were still sending packs out and that they at this point they did not have a close date.0

Why not settle for ICICI Banks' 6.85% bond?0 -

Just got excited when the post arrived with my new account. Had opened it with a £1. Was waiting to put in more once I had the account no, clicked on their website at 14.12 p.m. and it's already closed. No doubt if you had other accounts with them, a transfer would have been quicker.0 -
Oh no, I can't believe this! I emptied my A&L Direct Saver today to add to my bond but the money will only be officially available from tomorrow! ARRGHReclaimed thanks to this site:
£175 Abbey Mortgage Repayment Fee, £170.03 Capital One Bank Charges £418.07 Lloyds TSB Bank Charges, £2,671.55 Mis-sold Endowment Policy, all for OH0 -
Quite a few conflicting statements then by the staff!!I suppose stopping people applying for one from now on in the branch or on the web won't necessarily stop them sending out what has already been applied for,or even being able to add to an existing one,for a time.
Wonder what issue 2 will bring!! Isn't the bank rate being discussed next week again, with a predicted fall? Perhaps they are waiting for that.0 -
Just spoken to a nice lady at NR, who said that there will be a few days grace allowed for money still coming through the pipeline, so I'm going to transfer today. No more new applications can be made though. So, don't panic but get a move on!0
