sammy- just wanted to say . not long after i had my little boy i found a lump in my underarm.. was totally worried and stressed out about it , but then it just went!!!
the doctor said that i must have pulled somthing and it was a gland coming up ( or somthing a bit more medicaly than that!).. so you'll be fine!!
im going to have a go at making the homemade hobnobs.. much better to put in a packed lunch than a crappy smartprice biccy me thinks !!!0 -
sammy_kaye18 wrote: »mumrus - I make the famous 'twinks hobnobs'. They are amazing - i will warn you though once you've tried them you will have to be quick in future or they will barely make it out the oven before they are scoffed!! well this happens in my house anyway
i have to slyly make them whilst bf and son are out and hide them away so they dont scoff the lot
If ever you need it again its in the indexed collection under twinks hobnobs.
here is her recipe (nicked off anotehr thread!)
this is the recipe i use
8oz sr flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan stir in bic soda and add to dry mix, mix well, make smallish balls and put on greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork, 180oc for 15 mins, cool on the tray, you just want them golden in oven not brown
hope you enjoy them mumsrus and thanks you twink!!! they are yummy!!!
Finally going to make my very first batch of these tomorrow
in the recipie is tbs teaspoon or tablespoon?
and bic soda is that bicarbonate of soda?
and where you say margarine just marge or is butter ok too?
Cant you tell im a bad mummy and dont usually bake lol ..Late new years resoloution is to learn to bake;) so if anyone has any more lovely recipies send them my way
:D
What would be handy too from those of you that know more than meis what basic ingredients should i have in my cupboard for both sweet or savoury baking? if i can keep the main things in, then only need to get the odd thing specific to any recipie;)

sarah, yes it's a tablespoon each of syrup and hot water, and half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda. I always use butter. The important part is to just melt it. The recipe doesn't seem to work as well if the butter is hot. If in doubt leave it to cool for a few minutes:DYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0
