I've said it before Sammy - you are an inspiration! :T :T :T
What a fab post, especially as i'm really nosy and love to read what other people eat and how they shopI do nowhere near as well as you, even though at the moment i only have myself, OH and DD (6) to feed, i spend double in a month what you do.
When it was just me and DD i used to spend around £20, sometimes only £10 a week with £5 spare for extra milk, fruit, bread etc but since OH came along the food bill has shot up - he eats for about 3 people (6'2 and lanky as they come, never puts on an ounce) and doesn't think its a meal unless it contains meat  i'm slowly trying to change him though!
I'd love to see a typical weeks menu for your family, to nick some ideas lol. I agree that when you post your shopping list/meal plan you run the risk of criticism (sp?) but i think the main thing like Queenie said is to remember everyone's family is different and has different needs eg. me and DD put together dont eat the amount that OH does so even though theres 3 of us it really is like feeding a family of 4.
Thank you for posting your list

ps. oh and the skin thing? I never had a problem with my skin until i had DD (6yrs ago) but since then i have constantly dry skin and suffer occasionally from eczema. With this pregnancy however, my skin is oily and i have spots (for the first timenever had more than the occasional one even as a teen). And anyway, baby stuff smells GORGEOUS!!!!

i have to slyly make them whilst bf and son are out and hide them away so they dont scoff the lot
If ever you need it again its in the indexed collection under twinks hobnobs.
here is her recipe (nicked off anotehr thread!)
this is the recipe i use
8oz sr flour
8oz sugar
8oz porridge oats
8oz margarine
1tbsp golden syrup
1tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp bic soda
mix flour, oats and sugar, melt marg, syrup and water in a pan stir in bic soda and add to dry mix, mix well, make smallish balls and put on greased tray and flatten slightly with a fork, 180oc for 15 mins, cool on the tray, you just want them golden in oven not brown
hope you enjoy them mumsrus and thanks you twink!!! they are yummy!!!
glad you like them Sammy have found out its best to gently melt the marg or butter, i use the micro, it doesnt want to be too hot, if it is let it cool a bit before you mix it in0 -
I just wanted to say how impressed I am at your ingenuity & determination to feed your family well on a tight budget.
I only post a little on the OS ...but am a regular lurker , I remember your posts from when you first came onto the OS board...You've achieved so much ...I think you should be really really proud of yourself"Every time you feel yourself getting pulled into someone else's nonsense, tell yourself: Not my circus, not my monkeys." - Mark Borkowski.

I often read your threads and try to take tips from you so thanks for posting this. I am currently spending £130 a month to feed 2 adults and one 2 1/2 year old, this is for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I really struggle to do this though as DD eats so much!!
for example since she got up she has had a glass of milk, good bowl full of ready brek, a banana, satsuma, large rice cake and an apple. She is still saying she is hungry but I will make her wait until her snack at 10.30 now, she will then have a couple of hanfulls of grapes, lunch is a mince, veg & rice casserole and a yogurt then tea is soup, a ham and mushroom omlette. She will also have a biscuit later or a bit of homemade cake (ive made carrott, apple, raisin and sunflower seed cake to try and fill her up) plus another glass of milk, if really hungry she will have some raisins, breadsticks or crackers later too.
I do find it really hard to keep up with her demand for food and didn't know a little girl could eat so much, it must be because she sleeps 13 hours at night sometimes 2 in the day aswell, but when she is awake she doesn't sit for more than 5 minutes.
My youngest DD 7 ( the blonde in my avatar) is the same and has been since birth.
When she come home from school this is what she scoffs.
1/4 bunch grapes
1/2 carrot
4 crackers
2 spoons soft cheese
slice of cinnamon & rasin cake(really simlple recipe, must remember to post it later)
3 oat biscuits( as per Twinks recipe)
Then less than an hour after that she has supper
then pudding
Then milk
then 2 more biscuits
I won't even start on the amount of stuff she has in her lunch box!
I remember when her big sister started school ( she was still at home) we'd have breakfast, walk to school, come home, when she'd have another breakfast ( and I'm talking about the pancakes & bacon type breakfasts here  )
so you are so not alone"Every time you feel yourself getting pulled into someone else's nonsense, tell yourself: Not my circus, not my monkeys." - Mark Borkowski.

Sammy - i wanted to say thankyou, not only for this post and the recommendation for the bread recipe (
) but also for putting your font size back up in the recent posts.. i didn't quite know how to ask you to make it a bit larger without coming across all criticial, which i definetly don't want to do because i'm so aware of the effort typing out all of your initial posts would've taken.
thankyou!!! (and i'm studiously ignoring all references to twink's hobnobs.. i'm trying to lose weight!)
