When I started this thread, I knew I had received spam mail as a result of one transaction that involved Quidco, SHOP.COM and Tribal UK. I wasn't sure which of the three caused the spam mail. It was my very first attempt at obtaining cashback via Quidco, and I had used the comparison tables on their website to help me choose a supplier. The supplier topping Quidco's list was SHOP.COM at 7%. Tribal UK was next at 4%. When I had made the SHOP.COM order I thought it was rather fun that I had seemingly got an extra 3% for nothing because the ulimate supplier was still apprently Tribal UK.

Anyway, I haven't a clue how Quidco negotiate 7% with Quidco and only 4% with Tribal UK - I don't even care because it is obvious that despite their Google Ads, neither can supply it.

Anyway, Quidco came on here on MSE and pointedly said the spamming was against their policy. Fair enough. I wasn't particularly convinced, but I can now say that it looks likely that it is SHOP.COM who have broadcast my personal data to the world. I wonder what they have done with my credit card data. Is it secure do we think? Hmmmm

I had also pointed out on this thread that the transaction was abortive. I am still not sure of the real reason for that.

So, in conclusion I can only repeat: I wish I had never heard of Quidco because then I would never have used shop.com, and then I would never have received daily spam nor telephone calls from India from AXA PPP Healthcare about more rubish products.

Obvously Quidco can't find time to vet all the suppliers with whom they've negotiated / activated cashback arrangements, so I think my best advice now might be to only consider using Quidco for deals with suppliers that you yourself have already vetted, or can vet, and to ignore those you haven't heard of in Quidco's cashback comparison tables. Otherwise expect failed deals and spam and unexpected calls from India. Would that be fair?

Surely you have seen that straight away as you had already said it was your shop.com email address. If it had been quidco who leaked your info then you'd be getting spam to your quidco email address.

    And

    Peter--->Money Saving Expert--->affiliate merchant--->Quidco

Which proves it's just as much this sites fault, or will he finally get it!

What about the person that originally recommended Quidco ... sue them! :T
    Gone ... or have I?

Just had to return to report THE absolute dumbest phenomena I have witnessed for a while

    To recap:

    1. This thread was about my experiences after heeding various mentions on MSE tempting me to try Quidco when I wanted a new freezer, and how it all went pear-shaped.

    2. I'd used Quidco's comparison tables to choose a retailer earning me the most cashback from the cheapest freezer deal.

    3. I ordered the freezer via Shop.com who give 7% Quidco cashback and who in turn used Tribal UK as the supplier. Had I cut out Shop.com and used he Quidco link direct to Tribal UK I'd have only got 4% cashback. Stranger things have happened so I took the former deal not the latter ...

Still with me? Read on ...

    4. I heard no more except I got a "How did we do?" type survey request from Shop.com and started receiving spam on the unique email address I had created for the order.

    5. I started the thread.

    6. I eventually discovered that my order had been cancelled through apparent lack of stock despite the fact that Tribal UK and their sister company operating out of the same warehouse were still weeks later advertising it for the same prices less than £120 at the top of the page when searching for LEC U4026W. In fact they are still advertising it at around the same price according to a link about 6 down on Google, for £120.50 including delivery. But if you click on the link it magically becomes £153

    6. I changed my profile on Shop.com to make it clear that I did not wish to receive daily spam and thought it had stopped for a few days.

    7. We kicked the nonsense of it all about a it, and eventually I got bored with trying to order a cheap freezer at advertised prices which don't actually exist for real, and also bored with those MSE'ers who knock observations like mine for the sake of it because it offends their sensibilities and attachments to their favorite team (you know the type).

    Still with me? Good.

And now, the latest news ... da-da...!!

My Quidco cashback arrived in my PayPal account yesterday apparently from a company called Maple Syrup or something completely off the wall...

So then, as dumb as it sounds, I guess I have to recommend Quidco for free money ... well free if you can put up with daily spam from who's ever database your details might pass on the way ... just go to Quidco and hunt for a middle-man like shop.com who apprently will pay 7% on orders that will always get cancelled (like £120 for a LEC U5026W perhaps). Then, ignore the increase n spam and sit back and wait two months or so for your PayPal money.

    Over and Out!

Big surprise, so as everyone has been saying all along that quidco upheld their part of the contract yet you were the one blaming them. And as you'd already pointed out it wasn't quidco who sent the spam because the spam didn't go to your quidco email address. So the observations you made that you berated other MSE'rs for correcting you on turned out to be wrong just as those MSE'rs had said.
