Hubby want's cottage pie for tea, so I'm making 6, 1 for tea, 1 for DD & DSIL as they have a baby due soon & the others in the freezer.
I made £40 on Amazon so I spent £10 on a full set of crochet hooks, I have so much wool, I'm going to crochet a square a night instead of knitting scarves while I'm doing my phone work, always remembering to keep the marbles nearby, lol.
I've made a batch of Simple Soup while I was making the cottage pie, so that's next weeks lunches sorted. Recipe is 1 large potato, 2 carrots & 1 small onion, all peeled, chopped, cook in water till soft, season & mash, add milk if liked, when cool freeze in porrtions. This is a fairly bland soup, but comforting on a cold day, I sometimes add a pinch of curry powder for extra flavour.
Hugs Hester

Hi all. Been sorting out excees bedding today and some of my clothes-again. So I now have 3 binliners full of stuff to recycle. Headache much better today thanks to all who asked. OH had to go into work this afternoon-after a busy morning at home too. Kids back from their dad's now and don't I know it. At least they are not bickering at the moment, they have already had a couple of set to's!!! I'vce still got loads to do today, Though I have done a bit more in the bedroom that needs decorating!!! Not sure about this one coat paint though!!! I've given the ceiling one coat and it still seems really patchy-unless it's because of the disgusting colourful paint underneath!!!
OH is also talking about getting some self levelling cement for the pantry floor-personally I have never heard of it and didn't know there was such a thing, I did ask him if someone was 'lifting his leg' about it and he assures me in all seriousness that you can actually get this stuff... So I think I might leave that for him to sort out!!!
right I'd better do a bit more.GE 36 *MFD may 2043

You have had a busy day...............I had every intention but then got way laid by my son sending photos through of grandson from Christmas, phone call from other son, someone gave me a link for images for making a Sympathy card (I'd almost decided to just buy one but I know it would be appreciated if I made it myself).............Dad's bits and pieces still in the box.........
Never mind...........maybe tomorrow ????Mary

Hi!
A cold and wet damp afternoon here (again).
dlb Well done on the giving up smoking and keeping busy is probably the best thing to do, that and going on very long walks, just don't pass any shops that sell cigs!
I went to church with the girls this morning and did some parachute games with the sunday school group. We had fun but I'm sure I've pulled something in my shoulder. I'm so unfit!
I've done all of the ironing, stripped beds, washed and dried bedding and we had croissants and bacon for lunch. Tonight's tea will be toad in the hole, roasties, carrot and swede and smoothies. DD1 hates the name toad in the hole so I've changed it for her benefit to 'lots of sausages in a giant yorkshire pudding'.
Mind you I remember hating the name 'faggots' when I was a kid. It's just as well I'm not giving her spotted !!!!!! for pudding as well! :rotfl:
I'm waiting for some of my Ebay stuff to finish today. Just some clothes, shoes and books. If it doesn't sell it will be going in the charity bag, but so far most of it seems to be selling, so more cash in the piggybank.:j
Have a good evening!0 -
Hi, I never liked the word faggots either...although it was Brains faggots....so, I was convinced they were made from brains...not by Mr Brain.
I've heard of self levelling stuff for floors, in fact there's 2 bags of the stuff next to me in the kitchen, OH is going to put it over the floor before boarding it in preparation for the Karndean to go down...(it's a work in progress).
Miss Twit is still at her friends, Mr Twit is having to mess with the boiler, as we have no heating and no hot water.
Taplady, Miss Twit's friends (boys) call round to put on their eyeliner and straighten their hair before going into town on a Saturday afternoon. Have you listened to the Emo song by The Lancashire HotPots, it's on YouTube and is very funny.
I'm expecting to get some oysters later, so if anyone has a good recipe for a topping before grilling..shout up..there's only so many I can eat raw and Mr Twit does not like them raw (or need any encouragement in the aphrodisiac department).
Woo Hoo, good news the boiler is fixed....what a star and Miss Twit wants picking up at 6.15....hmph there goes my plan to watch Dancing on Ice and I bet Daniel and Linda are skating early this week.
Salmon for tea, from the Moby, and my last phone call was to say that 27 oysters are hot footing it to my house as I type.
Hugs to all

Tired mum, hope he is ok, keep us posted xx
Had a quiet day had a quick tidy through this morning, then an hour or so in the garden cutting back fig tree, and eucaliptus tree, which is slowly rotting away. Had a lovely roast chicken, and even with the most carefull of picking the bones there is JUST enough for a pie tomorrow, have put the bones in the fridge and will make stock for soup tomorrow. It was a tiny chicken.
Had a nice afternoon reading and watching TV, had a long soak in the bath and had a hair wash and de fuzzed myself, so feeling very relaxed now.
Going to watch larkrise to candleford, then have an early night in prep for the restarting of the working week
Have good evenings all xx0 -
Getting nowhere with sympathy card I was going to make so think I'll look at it again tomorrow with a fresher mind (she says hopefully.....lol)
Printed out more of grandsons photos, wrote to MIL and sent her a couple of the nicer ones, same for other son -his brother won't think to do that........lol
Painted picture with kids paint set of puffer paints son bought me for my birthday so the photos have gone off to him with that so he can see what a mess I can make, even with kids paints..............lol
Next project is to have a go at the 'sew a teddy' kit he got me for christmas.......lo, now that'll be a laugh..................lol
OH has now decided despite new specs he's still not 100% (though managed the pub ok..............lol) now says he thinks he's got a head cold and is curled up on the sofa so best I go and show my face so he knows I do still live here........................lol
Night allMary

I’ve heard of that cement as well tattycath, its supposed to be good.
Fingers and toes crossed for zac, tired mum.
Well done dlb – keep going its worth it.
A busy day today, we went swimming which was great fun, visited great granny who seemed a little down compared to last time we saw her. Hopefully its only January blues and she’ll perk up as spring comes round. Took her a very large bag of wool to be keeping busy with and her eyes lit up which was nice to see. Also took her some xmas pressies and a new book to keep her busy.
All very tired now, kids just been put to bed by dh, busy school day tomorrow. Am now going to have a nice soak in the bath and watch a film later.
