Money Saving gone TOO far?

When we moved to this house which has a septic tank (flush only paper) both of my daughters and I were appalled by the amount of sanitary 'waste' that we generated. It was all to easy when we were living on the mains sewer system to ignore the green implications and let our rubbish be someone else's problem.
I bought all of us a mooncup, and we all love themI wish I'd bought one years ago, as it's certainly paid for itself many times over in saving money buying tampons, but I also love the fact it's always 'there' meaning I never run out and have to do an emergency run for SP.
I'm totally mystified as to why mooncup might be MS 'step too far' to be honest???
I had a Mirena by the time mooncups came on the market, but I'd definately have got one if not. I think they're more hygenic than other forms of SP so I agree with your mystification as to why other folk won't use them. They're hardly an entirely new concept either...most woman who have used a diaphragm/Dutch Cap as contraception have also used it at one time or another during a period just for blood collection. That's where the mooncup evolved from I belive. And diaphragms really are Old Style, given that they've been around for over a century!Val.0 -

Thats the worst thing ive read on old style(but then again, ive not read about the rags/buckets/loo thingy???)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Hi Thomza,
As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've added it to the existing one on extreme moneysaving where you may pick up some more moneysaving ideas.

I have been visiting a neighbour and I just had to post this about how he saves on toilet paper.
I thought I was stingy about saving money but this neighbour, I think, goes over the score.
He gets up in the morning, stays in his pajamas until he has a cup of tea, then does the toilet, then has a shower and dresses.
How does he save on toilet paper?
Because he is going straight into the shower from sitting on the toilet he doesn't use any toilet paper.
Do others do this or is it just me that thinks it is a bit gross?0 -
wouldn't do it myself!
I save on paper by utilising work's facilities when I can
out of curiosity - how on earth did you get onto the subject of 'toilet habits' with your neighbour haha!0 -

Drink, he was getting drunk on homemade wine.I would not wish to share his bathroom facilities.
Neither would I, he is the if it is yellow let it mellow type and he had just been before I needed to go.
I was told not to flush it after me.
I was at another neighbour who dragged me along as a first foot. I won't be going back.0 -
