• i had new boiler and radiators put in through warmfront about 3 years ago. I've had nothing but trouble with them. It started with a screeching noise coming from either boiler or radiator. I got an engineer out who told me that the system was set up on a loop so 2 radiators had to be on at same time and there was nothing we could do. When the warranty ran out we got boiler cover, after getting another engineer out under the new cover i was told he could have a look but it would cost £65 ph!! I contacted both warmfront and fenhams who put radiators in but no 1 had a record of calls being made by me about the problem and the only way to sort the problem would be to re-apply for another grant (which would be turned down). I now have a screeching system and no money to get it fixed!!

I got a grant and Warm Front installed a boiler at my house.

They had used a Corgi registered contractor to have the boiler fitted. They in turn used an Electrical contractor for electrical work. I have both their installation records.

I then received Electrical certificate from NICEIC and Gas certificates from IDEAL + CORGI.

I’ve now found out that there is a serious electrical wiring fault on the boiler. I’ve now received from a major Utilities company whom I have a boiler maintenance contract a “Safety Advice/Warning Notice” stating that:

NOT TO CURRENT STANDARDS: INCORRECT WIRING
“FOUND INSULATION FAULT ON WIRING TO BOILER…i.e. NO PERMANENT LIVE – SAFETY CHECKS NOT COMPLETED”

I’ve sent / phoned WF but apart from “we’ll answer within 28 days” I’ve heard nothing.

we had warm front install Oct 2010, had a phone call in Dec asking if working, as we were just back off holiday said yes I think so, in January 2011 had to ring about banging & lack of heat, engineer called & said system needed flushing as it couldn't have been done right, needed new 3 way valve & balancing........they failed to come, in october I rand asking when service would be & what about the repairs etc & was told the case was closed & recorded as all o.k.
from this time I have been on to both corillian & orion to try to get things done, faults, service, replacements....whilst I have a sympathetic ear at corillian he seems unable to get anything done, orion are rude & don't want to know other than passing it back to corillian.
I'm now without heating for most of the week & hot water about every other day, I scared that my wife will become ill when we do get the 'cold snap' as although its cold now its going to get worse obviously & the fact that the boiler has still not been serviced, faults not repaired & parts not replaced................where do I go, the complaints dept is at corillion yet they are the administrators of the scheme anyway....so self regulating which obviously is not working.
do I book an outside contractor at my cost?, does this void any warrantee?, for what thats worth. Can my household insurance legal cover do anythings?

I'm at my wits end & getting very highly strung now, feel like I can't cope anymore, but theres no where to go.....they don't seem to care that people are cold !!

heres a list of problems:
*hot water on a bi-daily basis most of the time.
*have to manually move valve to get hot water.
*radiators don't function 90% of the time.
*stat does not speak to programmer.
*programmer doesn't start pump.
*programmer can be lit, but pump is not running.
*crackling & banging in pipes.
*boiler very load banging & cracking almost to the point of *being frightened.
*when we do have rads working, some still don't.

2 extra inspections by corillion, both of which say there are problems & list them, both of which are not recognised by orion, but when I ask what we need to do orion say ask corillion for an inspection, we can't do anything until they have !!

I know that this is going to end up costing me what I just don't have.

Pete
depending were in the country you are i could look for free (inspection and tell you whats wrong ) could have number of faults like cold feed and expansion pipe installed wrong ,or could be blocked ,or the w way valve may need changing ,

My mothers nightmare with Ega/Warmfront:
Sent these idiots an email...

Eaga warm front

Dear customer management,
I would like to firstly like to thank you for the installation of my mothers new central heating under the government scheme.

But the bad news it looks an eyesore, none of the pipework was hidden, due to not enough notification time regarding getting the floorboards up.!
My mother lives alone and would of got me (son) and friend to get preparation work done so as to make the work more straightforward.

Regarding the bare pipework, there must be a risk of my mother burning herself if she should have a trip/fall when the heating is on!!
This really gives me concern, a risk assessment must be advised.

Someone came to inspect the work, said it was satisfactory, and just said paint over the pipes!!

What a bunch of idiots.
Now managed to put cladding around pipes, and painted the rest, still looks a damn eyesore though.

if its set up on a loop ,then they are refreing to a 1 pipe system and is NOT ALLOWED (under the building regs ) must be 2 PIPE SYSTEM TO WORK ,,,it could be blocked as well and the pump could have seized up , building regs state only 2 pipe system allowed and most boiler manufacture state 2 pipe system under the building regs ,,,your best to get quotes for this ASAP and rip 1 pipe system out and install 2 pipe system ,may damage boiler if no by pass is fitted ,;):(:rotfl:
