Warm Front - Lets Make Them Accountable

Hello everyone, I read this forum with interest as I have had no end of problems with Eaga heat the associated company of Warmfront
I have kept notes of exactly how many times I have called the company and what has been said. I will get them together and post them here for everyone to see.0 -

Mine was all approved back in April last year and nothing has happened yet. I still get the odd letter saying it is all going ahead just that they are very busy, but it has been nearly 10 months. I am having problems with my existing boiler and dont want to spend any money on it knowing (or at least hoping) it is going to be replaced shortly

well after reading all the negative posts I feel compelled to post this,
my father was eligible under the warmfront grant to have new central heating installed(only a gas fire before)
the surveyor came out, then about 6 months later we were advised the install team would come and that it would take 2 days and there would possibly be no gas for that time,
install team turned up had a look around and decided that they would work in a way that meant the gas fire would be on at the end of the day,
dad did not need to move out and the disruption was kept to a minimal
at the end of the second day dad had his new central heating system in and working and has been toastie warm since,
Myself,my father and my brothers cannot thank the install team enough for their workmanship and courtesy.
maybe we were lucky BUT this is for FREE and dont forget thatIMOJACAR

By definition of these such forums, there are always more bad entries than good. If you are happy with yout toaster you woudl bother to look on the internet for a forum to post you were happy on praisemytoaster.com for example. You are a "fervent user here " hence you saw this and posted your praise.
I really take umbridge at the free part., yes most of us didnt actually pay out alot of money, but i for one did have to pay, and didn't get a full central heating system as the kitchen isnt classed as living in room.
why unscrew screws on skirting boards that held previous pipes on when you can use a claw hammer to yank em out, thus ruining the skirting board.
but it doenst matter its free right ?
36 lockshield valves installed on 7 radiators, its ok didnt cost me anything extra it was free.
endless phonecalls to warmfront - "we'll ring you back " twice out of al the times they said they woudl they actually did. my time isnt free
plumbers turning up unexpectedly without the "they'll ring you an hour before" of course i'm not in yet more phonecalls.
i am really glad i kept the old heating system and cashed it in for scrap myself, as that £100 i got made me feel a little better knowing that lot didnt benefit from it.
and as i posted before, yes eventually it all got done but it just took forever to finally get everythign fixed. A month alone to get a raditor replaced as it was too small for the room.
just seems no one talks to each other. when you speak to the right person, things do seem to move along.0 -

sorry BUT the kitchen is not a 'living' room,as in my fathers case nor is the 'consevatory'BUT the guys were able to leave some 'tails' so that we can put a rad in it,
praisemytoaster.com eh!,
well perhaps there are many more happy people that have not bothered to post I wish they would,
yes it takes time to get things going,my father waited 6 months from survey to fitting,BUT again when it is free you cannot moan
cant comment on skirting boards, perhaps they didnt know they were screwed on, its not that common
a month for a replacement rad, well the fitting teams are busy and again they have to shedule things as and when,I am surprised they did not question the rad size,as the place where the surveyor had suggested for fitting my fathers living room rad would have been too small so the guys changed the rad and located it on another wall,
endless phone calls!, well again we were lucky that during the whole fitting process we only had to call them once and that was because the guys had left their box of bits behind
Once again I cannot praise EAGA or their fitting team highly enough, they were a couple of scousers and very nice peeps, they even left the alloys alone on my car:rotfl:IMOJACAR

I forgot to add, 4months before all this installation I had a brand new £350 myson heater installed. Due to lack of wall space in the kitchen. An entire house warm and not the kitchen? How decensean, ( prolly spelt wrong )
By definition any adjacent rooms would have to have larger heaters or as soon as the doors were opened all the heat would suck into the cold.
Anyway my point was, even though the heater was really new and even though the guy who came around to measure for stuff said it wouldnt be a problem, within a couple of days he had rng me back to say it couldnt be added to system. But have a quiet word with the installers i'm sure they'll leave you something so i can reconnect it myself.
Seems you were that lucky, i was told they werent allowed too.
As already mentioned in other peoples articles in here, its all down to the team you get.
My complaints aren't really with the installers, although dripping rad valves ( not noticed until a week later ) after the call back time it seems, which is what lead to all the delay problems.
Paid EAGA 15th October 2010
Installation 2nd and 3rd November 2010
10th February 2011 finally finished having the ceiling repaired, bigger radiator installed and spiral made accessible.
when i get bored i might even make all my diary entries available to a website somewhere.
lol ratemytoaster.com, it is true though, forget Eaga for a moment, most forums be it for matrox, apple microsoft vauxhall by the very nature of them always more people leave complaints than praise.
Human nature. You are happy with a product you tell your friends and family, you are unhappy you tell the world.
I am happy that your father in law had a good installation. Aftercare is yet another part of peoples complaints on this forum. I for one will not be using warmfront, when the warranty runs outs.0 -
Re Warm Front
What you may not know about Warm Front. The grant provided by the Government is for a maximum of £3500 which has to include the cost of the boiler, the installation, the servicing etc. For at least the last three years they have been fitting Ideal Logic HE combi 24 boilers which are prone to major problems, i.e., this is a badly manufactured product and very likely the worst boiler in the country, failures of which include PCB's, ignitor electrodes regularly warp and prevent the boiler from lighting. The gasket on the heat engines fail causing water leaks. The condensate trap needs to be cleaned regularly or it blocks with metal shavings from the badly cast heat engine. It is also far too noisy. The other problems are too numerous to mention. I have also spoken to numerous private heating contractors in my own area who all advise not to go near Warm Front or indeed ideal logic HE 24 with a barge pole.
The Warm Front policy is to install the cheapest available boiler which in this case is the Ideal Logic HE combi 24. If your on welfare or state pension the cost of continually repairing this boiler when the warranty has run out will be beyond your financial means. I would strongly suggest you forget Warm Front and find a way to have your work done privately, having done my own research the best boiler on the market at this time is the Worcester 24i Greenstar condensing combi.
If your installation has been done but your inspection has not, refuse your inspection until such time as your fully satisfied with it, though that is not likely to ever happen!.
The best thing to do get it done privately, if you can raise the money.
Stand firm and don't be bullied into submission.0
