Thanks moggins - and then how do I wrap them neatly?? My baskets are round so not as easy to do neatly as square ones I shouldn't think

When doing this sort of baskets for fairs my mum (and me when I was older) just used Cling film wrapped around a couple of times to get the thickness. A pretty bow or something makes it look a bit better and then you can add a "Hand made by me!" tag ;)

I stand the basket in the centre of a square of cellophane, gather up the 4 corners, tuck the middles of the sides in, fasten with a rubber band then finish off with a ribbon. Do some tidying up & arrange the bit above the ribbon as neatly as you can. It looks very effective!
  • I always do as chipps....but I always tie with raffia or rustic garden twine. I also tie a cinnamon stick and a brown parcel tag to the raffia/twine to finish it off.
  • Ditto re:the cellophane. This year I have made salt dough 'tags' in the shape of xmas trees, bells, stars (sprayed silver/gold) which I will be attaching with either ribbon or raffia (bought from florist for 30p a bundle).

  • To make them look tidier, wrap a layer of decent quality clingfilm over (not too tight or it will rip) and then use a hairdryer on a medium setting to gently shrink it to fit the basket. (It's what the Bodyshop used to do with their gift baskets anyway...)

Just thought I'd rescue this thread from page 4  That is disgraceful so to near Xmas!!! :rotfl:

Just to let you know, Boots online are offering 10% off any order until 18th September, with 300 extra AC points when you spend over £15 on exclusive brands, eg the Sanctury range which is currently 50% off on selected items!

Possibly a good source for Pamper Hamper goodies?

I just bought 7 "hamper" items, RRP over £29, I paid £18.05 including delivery and got 361 AC points, which effectively takes it down to £14.44 :j

Can anyone help with cheapest place to get supplies to make christmas crackers?
I've seen kits but they're often quite pricey and then buying bits to put in them, unless I can use some of my freebies, but I haven't got that many yet.

made little gift bags one year instead of crackers, but would like to give crackers a go.

  • how about buying a box of cheap crackers and changing the contents? if you carefully open one end you can put better stuff in and redo them back up

Not a bad idea, never thought of that. I've seen some rather nice ones which look like mulberry paper over the foil, so could still possibly do that, if I have any mulberry paper lying around, may not have enough. Could still tart them up somehow though, make them look more expensive.

    Thanks
