I went through the present cupboard last night (actually it's finally spilled out into our room too and I have presents for everyone bar FIL, some presents have to have a little something added to them but DD's pile was huge with 21 presents in it so I don't have to get much more than stocking fillers for her and DS's wasn't far behind.

With the second hand laptop I bought (and paid cash for :D I'm just so chuffed as I've never had savings before and christmas has always put us into debt, never again thanks to MSE,) for DH I am almost there. I am so glad as DS and DD1's birthdays are in November and DS is having a party this year, he's turning 13 and I can no longer get away with a kiddie party at home, he is playing lasertag with 9 of his friends and it's going to cost £150 including Burger King afterwards.

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Funny you should mention the cakes - I have been thinking about doing exactly that for school/brownies/guides etc - got a book out of the library this week to get some ideas!

Where can I get cellophane from? I have hampers of varying sizes that I want to wrap in cellophane to make them look more professional! Any advice on how to wrap the hampers neatly would also be appreciated!!!

Someone suggested buying it from a local florist if I remember rightly.

    Or there's this place?

    christmas pot pourri

havnt tried it but it says it will fill the house with a wonderful, warming festive scent, so am going to give it a go

put a handful of mixed nuts in shells, cinnamonsticks, star anise, some peeled ginger root, cracked nutmegs and dried orange peel in a bowl

add a few drops of pimento oil, essential orange oil and orris root powder,
all can be bought from a health food store,

mix together and put in a polythene bag for a couple of days, shaking it now and again

when you are ready to give the present, add some pine cones sprayed gold then put it in a clear cellophane bag and tie with ribbon and you can add some xmas stickers to the bag

there will be enough essential oils to make loads
