  • An idea I used last year for 2 teenage girls was to fill a small gift bag with a 'winter warmer kit.'
    I bought
a pack of 2 mini hot water bottles from Poundland and gave one to each of them
a lip salve each from Wilkinsons, can't remember how much but they are very cheap
a pack of three novelty socks reduced in Tesco to 99p, I gave them a pair each and kept a pair for myself!
a handbag sized packet of Christmas themed tissues, 70p each from a shop in Salisbury
a sachet of hot chocolate and Christmas themed mug, can't remember where I got them from, in a sale somewhere cheap though!

Hope the list gives inspiration to someone, I'm sure the creative ones out there will be able to think of other things along this theme
...it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

Was just thinking maybe substituting the lip salve for a mini bottle of brandy....

Asda were selling off all their summer toys/gardening stuff today. i got a lovely little enamelled metal bucket, brightly coloured filled with childs metal trowel and fork set £1.75 and a mini propagator complete with seeds and compost etc for £4.50. these are for my six year old niece who desperately wants to be a gardener/farmer and is always trying to grow sunflowers/ carrot tops, cress or anything. Both were half price so a good buy.:T

They were also selling kids pop up play tents for £4.50,disney swim rings for 20p, lots of "cars" inflatables for about £1, and balls, skip ropes and other stuff all reduced to pence. They are emptying the shelves ready for the halloween stuff.Lots of bargains to be had.

I hope there are some still left next week when DD starts school again. It's impossible to buy anything for her when she's around

  • Has anyone made a fabric advent calendar?
I'd like to get one each for my children but they seem expensive so I wondered if anyone has made one or has seen any that don't cost alot?

I have made one of these. It was a kit by Bucilla bought on QVC for about £18 3 years go, you can buy them on ebay. they are great fun to make and much nicer than the rubbish bought in the shops.

Definately worth the effort, but start sewing now or you wont get them done in time.:D

I've ordered Mum's "big" present. It's a really pretty dragonfly broach I saw on the Kirks Folly show on QVC. Going to set me back around £30 but she's worth it

Sis is getting her "big" pressie for her birthday which is 9 days before Chrimbo. Can't say what it is, just in case she ever listens to me and joins this site!!!!

Think I've spent around £90 on Christmas so far, but got loads of presents and other bits with that.

This is such a cool idea and I wanted to thank you using the button, but for some reason I can't click 'Thanks'!

I'm they loved them and had fun looking through what you'd bought! Imay well adapt this for friends of mine as it seems a nice personal gift and very inexpensive!

A fancied the idea of making my own scarves as xmas pressies so just went into local craft shop and they wanted to charge £4.30 for a ball of wool! Needless to say I did not buy it because then my scarves would hardly be moneysaving, is this generally the price of wool? (I'm a first time knitter!) and if not can anybody suggest cheaper places to buy wool. My local It's a Gift were charging £1.50 for a tiny ball.

115 DAYS TO GO!!....And I've bought my first present!! My friend is due to give birth in November and I found a lovely Christmas present for the baby. From Boots, an official 'Snowman' hat and booties. Reduced from £6 to £1!! HAd a look round for other possible gifts, but I thought I would be buying for the sake of it and might end up not giving them to anyone!

But 1 down, several to go!!
