    HURRAY FOR CHRISTMAS!!

I really am thinking ahead this year, so that I can enjoy the run up to it all, rather than stressing about it too much! I got my cards and wrapping in the January sales, and DH and I have started a 'recycled' presents box.

Got some more M&S reward vouchers yesterday which makes a total of £10. Last year they did 3 for 2 on lots of kids stuff, so I'll be buying 3 £5 presents with them! Currently got 6,000 Nectar points which equals £30 in vouchers, so might think of something to do with them! Have over £30 of tesco vouchers to use somehow! Also clicking away like made on pigsback for a Boots voucher!!

Does anyone know of the web addresses for sites that help you plan for Christmas, maybe with a countdown chart and ideas for Christmas on a budget etc?

Had an idea for stocking fillers for children.
How about a small pack of thank you notes, that way they can spend a few hours over the christmas holidays writing a little note to those who gave them presents to say thanks very much. Saves trying to find some a few days after in a drawer somewhere and could find ones that are more personal to the child perhaps?

i have www.christmastimeuk.com or www.survivingchristmas.org.uk this last one is not going yet this year, but will be later
  • its for this very reason that i am rapidly working my way through my birthday/occasions book and buying any cards i will need for this side of christmas. i hate the way that come september when the shops have put all their christmas stock out, you cannot find a single decent birthday card

Me too. I have a birthday book to store cards in. I buy cards I like for people when I see them rather than the mad dash the day before the birthday. I also bought some really nice ones from the Next xmas sale , 25p each and they've done for all my friends. It makes sense to buy them in advance, the shops bring the xmas cards out earlier every year.

Listening to everyone talking about pillow cases it reminded me of when i was a child. We never had the nice smart stockings, instead we each had one of my dads Huge clean army socks.

LOve the idea of the reindeer food and the fairy dust, not sure why i haven't thought of it before, we normally leave some carrots out but this would be fun and a little different for the children to make.

Does anyone also celebrate old father time?

  • My sister-in-law started our family on old father time, I'd never heard of it before and the first time she spent new year with us I thought she was mad. Do you put slippers outside the bedroom door or is it just her cause I'm convinced she makes it up as she goes along!:p

I don't know if you have kids but there is an offer on for nectar at Adams this week. Normally 500 points = £5 there but this week it is worth £7.50, therefore you would have £90 (I think). The Nectar offers are on MSE, it may end today.

It's the bank holiday weekend and I'm off to the IL's...and Christmas Shopping :D:rotfl: I'm packing my rucksack with bits that can be left at the house while I go shopping in the town centre. I know I have a certain amount of money which I can spend so I'm happy ;) Look out Barrow, Nicki's back :rotfl:

I've just applied for some today, my sister hasn't seen any nice things for my 3-6 months size nephew for a bit but hasn't checked Adams, so I will when they come through :)

It may be worth noting though that the Nectar issued vouchers are valid till the end of October, so don't get those and keep them till Christmas. According to another thread on here people have checked with Adams's CS and been told that you can use the Nectar vouchers to buy Adams vouchers and those don't have an end date.
