I so love this thread !
Its lovely to meet like minded people all my family and friends frown when i mention the "Christmas" word and when I have wrapped all my gifts up for bonfire night they just think im mad
I really can't wait for this Christmas ,my little boy will be 20 months and is that lovely age where he gets excited at everything
Ps .I have bought my little boy some nearly new fisher price little people toys from the carboot sale ,am I being mean if I give them him as part of his christmas gifts ?0 -
No your not being mean, your child will love to play with them so what does it matter where they came from ` i know they came from santa of cause`!!
My kids very often get 2nd hand stuff from the big man, but i only get stuff that looks brand new, my kids dont even notice there are no boxes, after all how many extra ££ do you have to pay for a nice shiny box!! And santa is far to busy to make boxes aswell as making all the toys!!!Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Jopsey, you're certainly not being mean! I remember one Christmas when the boys were 4, 3 and 2 and we had something unexpected crop up about 2 weeks before (car emergency I think), I was looking through our local paper and someone had advertised a box of toddler boys toys for $20. Well, that was like a gift from heaven, we wrapped about 40 odd individual cars, robots, games etc. Kids were ecstatic on Christmas morning opening all thier pressies from santa...Phew!0

For a real magicical touch I was going to try some Magic Reindeer food ( here ) from OrganizedChristmas. We'll have to see though.
We make our with nuts, sunflower seeds and oats in a brown paper bag tied with string. This is left outside by the home made ' Santa please stop here sign ' as having Reindeers in the house would make a right mess, what with all that poop! Just remember to empy the contents of the bag before you go to bed.
Edit to say: Don't forget to get/make santa a special key so he can let himself in, last year they were selling on Ebay for about £4.Rebel No 220 -
jopsey you are certainly not being mean! When the children are small I make the most of them not being able to tell new from second hand! We used to have a lovely stall here where the woman bought up toys, cleaned them, sorted and made sure all parts were there and working and sold them on for a small profit. I used to raid that stall continually in the months before christmas. It saved me a fortune. I always try to find a suitable sized box to put them in, or even a basket if the toys come in lots of pieces, dress it up slightly and it looks brand new.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I so love this thread and christmas is getting ever nearer. I am saving nectar points from mytns, also have points with pigsback. I have recently joined ipos and almost have enough for £10 voucher, also joined juicybrains and lightspeed(not sure about this one as read quite a few bad comments in one of the threads) and I have amost got my £5 boots voucher from mums opinions as well as having about £6 on my boots card.So I think the kids will be pretty sorted.

Girl_least_likely_to wrote:I was in a garden centre at the weekend and they looked as if they were starting to shift the displays around to begin bringing out the xmas goods. They had xmas cards already on sale too. I know us lot on here are already getting organised but the shops really should know better, it's August
!!!!!
its for this very reason that i am rapidly working my way through my birthday/occasions book and buying any cards i will need for this side of christmas. i hate the way that come september when the shops have put all their christmas stock out, you cannot find a single decent birthday card

Also another tip for the tooth fairy is to sprinkle fairy dust from the windowsill to the bed when taking the tooth!:A
We did both of these!!
Also fairy dust used to lead us to our card and pressies on birthdays
Santa used to leave me and sis a special pressie each with our initial on it in fairy dustComping, Clicking & Saving for Change0
