I've been doing everything Martin has said in all of his emails - ie opening a american express card and getting £30 nectar points, and opening an amazon card to get £15 amazon voucher - and I have just worked out I now have more thatn £200 worth of vouchers already for xmas. I am so pleased and just keep on thinking I have another 6 months to save some more, so it could be my cheapest xmas ever, maybe even FREE!!!!!

My first baby is due on the 11th of December, I hear they are really bad time keepers so feel christmas might be out this year. Has anyone else had their first around this time, is it worth doing anything, eg organising lunch, (just me and jon this year I thought), drinks ect, or shall I just rule it out. I'm always one for christmas and usually start prezzies and booking xmas lunch for delivery around early November. My partner reckons I am kidding myself. Also plan on breast feeding but have read I can express milk and fridge/freeze it so I can have a few G&T's (long awaitied!!!)

Either way it will be our best christmas ever!

Bless you, it really will be your best xmas. My 1st was due 17th July and was born 1st August, and 2nd was due 23rd March and born 6th April so yes babies are very bad time keepers but I would still go in for xmas big style. If you buy everything in and then go into labour then it will keep til your home and up for it. Whether you have your xmas dinner on xmas day or a couple of days later it won't make much differance. I would try and be as organised a as possible but also be very flexible, that way if your eating cereal while knee deep in nappies and breast pads it won't matter. Either way whether it be cereal or a 6 course xmas dinner you will have a fab first xmas as a family :o

    Hi Phatmouse,

It will be a lovely Christmas. Our middle child was born on 18th December. Knowing he was due near Christmas made me ultra organised so I was ready well in advance of Christmas.

I came home from hospital two days before Christmas....Mr Pink was delegated to 'do' Christmas dinner and it was the most relaxed Christmas Day we ever had. I like everything to be 'perfect' so letting go wasn't easy, but once I did it, I really enjoyed it and DH made a fabulous Christmas dinner and did all the washing up afterwards.

Young Master Pink managed to sleep the whole day away and it was definitely the least stressful Christmas day I ever had. It will be your best Christmas. Good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

My third son arrived 7th December, just one day late and still I had to have my parents for three days at Christmas

I was very well prepared present and food wise and DH did all the last minute stuff. To be fair Mum and Dad did take the livingroom floor that year and I kept my bed!:D

I "did" the Christmas dinner as usual but everyone else did the washingup! I made sure bubs needed feeding soon after we finished eating!:rotfl:

You can certainly express and store breastmilk but sorry to say none of mine would take a bottle while being breastfed! But I do know others that have happily taken the bottle. My midwife said that two little drinks spaced apart wouldn't hurt bubs but I don't know what current thinking is.

Whatever you'll love Christmas because you'll have the most precious gift you can ever have, your own child:T

Hi, first off, congratulations. My son was born 12th Dec 04, he was due 20th Dec, so yeah his time-keeping was a little out;)

Just get yourself as organised as you can, i think most people had gift vouchers from me as presents that year, as the thought of trailing round the shops, feeling as big as a house just didn't appeal.

My dear sister who lives just around the corner delivered xmas dinner, the whole works, dessert, drinks, crackers etc, i had my own meals on wheels that day!!! Just had to do the washing up

Also had a 2 year old at the time, so it was nice on the day, just being able to concentrate on her, without having to faff about dinner. DS slept most of xmas day!!

My advice, organise as much as you can in advance, take all offers of help, learn to say NO.

And you're right it will be your best xmas ever - it's a lovely time to have a baby!!

    Take care
