I'll chuck my idea into the mix.
Every year for the last 20 years we take the kids to buy a decoration each for the tree, me and OH included.
We each choose one thing to go on the tree and by now it's turned into a real memory box of who chose what, and at what age - there are now over 80 of them so it gets written down because I can't be guaranteed to remember which is which, it looks as good as this :xmastree:0 -

Now, who can I get to bring the sprouts???!!
:xmastree: Just had a phone call from my mum who was at a Victorian Christmas market at Bury St Edmunds, to say that she has bought a very nice Christmas Pudding there for Christmas dinner (she & MIL had to have a sample of course!) and apparently my sister is making mince pies :snow_grin
And no, I didn't ask anyone to bring anything!
Looks as if I will be doing the sprouts myself :snow_grin How comes I get the boring bit
:xmassign: ps. I guess we will have to supply the brandy to set light to the pudding though - my favourite part :snow_laug :snow_laug :snow_laug0 -
The main tips in this thread are indexed now, apologies to any I missed, and so they can be fouind in the main Christmas sticky at the top of the Old Style forum.

Hi if there is anybody online who has made Henhogs Christmas pud with spiced figsand chocolate I would really appreciate some help! (Ok so it's New Years Eve so I am clutching at straws!). The thing is, is it the zest or the whole orange that I simmer and puree with the figs?
Any help gratefully received!0 -
I'm just back at work after the holidays, and wanted to thank everyone for making this thread so fun and useful. Though I was away at Christmas and the OS presents went a little by the wayside, I am already quite geared up at the idea of getting started making and planning next year's, and will be coming back to this thread...and dare I say, starting next year's Christmas support thread...later in the year!0

well inspired by this thread, and in a new frenzy of organisation...i have already started this years christmas shopping!!!!!!!
i have also started an "occasions" book using a notebook i received for christmas.
i have a 2 page spread for each month of the year, listing birthdays, anniversaries, events such as mothers day/easter etc etc where present and card buying is required, then at the back of the book, i have taken at least a page per person to write down present ideas (i never need be stuck for ideas again, i can jot them down as they come to me)...and i still have loads of space in the middle of the book which i havent yet decided how to use.
either way, im feeling very pleased with myselfknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Good grief!!! Give us a day off - you're all worse than the blumming SHOPS!
Sheesh!
Anyway... if we get many more posts here I'll split them off into a new OSCST 2006 thread.

Jingle bells, jingle bells!!! :santa2:
Right, for the first time ever I am going to be organised for Christmas!!! :j We have started saving some money already (see below!!) we're putting £2 each into a pot each week. This is the money that I would normally have wasted on the bonus ball board at work (wasted £98 last year on this!! )
And I'm going to make cards at some point too!!!
