I am quite new on here but have been inspired to make my own gifts this year. Has anyone got any great (idiot proof) recipes that would make lovely Xmas pressies for family and friends. Am planning to make some Jam - wish me luck as the last time i did this it was over twenty years ago!Going to get back in control of my finances the old school way!:cool:0

Hi :hello: There are quite a lot of gift ideas with recipes on this board.
Chutney is easy to do and is an unusual gift... I just made some mango & chilli chutney, it still needs a few weeks to mellow but it's lovely.
Also I found some raspberry wine vinegar (on clearance in Tesco if anyone's interested - it smells gorgeous!) that I intend to add to another type... maybe apple.
Other ideas off the top of my head
Marmalade
Gingerbread figures
Xmas cake
Turkish Delight
Coconut Ice
Fudge
Edit: Too late!!? It's September, not 20th December :rotfl:TOP MONEYSAVING TIP
Make your own Pot Noodles using a flower pot, sawdust and some old shoe laces. Pour in boiling water, stir then allow to stand for two minutes before taking one mouthful, and throwing away. Just like the real thing!0 -
I am in full nigella mode! Want to be ready for xmas this year and not have it creep up on me again! I have just made two HUGE jars of spiced pickled runner beans for my inlaws want to supplement it with some jam and maybe lemon curd.Going to get back in control of my finances the old school way!:cool:0

I am making Bath Salts from this link ...chosen because I already have glass jars, red food colouring and peppermint essential oil in the house;)
Then Peppermint Creams(I won't be using the aforementioned essential oil for this though:eek:), Walnut Fudge, Chocolate Fudge and possibly Rum and Raisin too and Blackcurrant Vodka supplemented by bits and pieces I have won in competitions.
Last year I gave Raspberry Vinegar, Raspberry Vodka plus bits won and bought.
Year before Lemon Curd, Orange And Cinammon Curd and Chocolate Truffles and HM Baileys.
I think most of the recipes were on MSE so have a good root about!!!
...and don't worry about the time because you don't want to be making the fudge or lemon curd type things too early anyway.Laughing at my ancient signature...voodoobaby now 10 years old:eek:0 -
