been up in the attic to see what ive already got and listed everything, done a list of who needs pressies and managed to marry most of them up. almost finished the back of mums waistcoat. I've salvaged some cushion pads from the settee weve just got rid of, and am hoping to make a couple of cushions for my newphew and niece. (thanks to marie for the idea)
A couple of magazines had a 'free' pashmina offer in recently supposedly worth £25 but cost £4 P&P so i sent for two of those thats my step mum and one of my DD's pressies;)SPC~12 ot 124

I have today bought my two frozen turkey crowns from Aldi (£8.99 each)...i had one last year and it was lovely with meat to spare.
Is frozen turkey as nice as a fresh turkey? I usually get a fresh turkey crown from waitrose but wouldn't mind paying £8.99 instead. I have a frozen chicken twice a month so guess its just the same but theres some niggling doubt in the back of my mind that fresh is best! How long does it take to defrost?
Can I have some opinions and a straw poll please, fresh or frozen?
Might save me a whack of money if I can be convinced:rotfl:0 -
Hi Bunny
Three or four years ago, I bought a frozen crown from Makro, and it was delicious!! We buy the same every year now. I had been ordering a fresh crown from the butcher prior to that, and paying around £30. I think last year's cost £12 and every crumb was eaten.
I take mine out of the freezer before going to bed on 23rd, and then roast it at whatever time it's ready on Christmas eve.:jI gave up jogging for health reasons; my thighs rubbed together and my knickers caught fire!0 -

have had frozen crown before from Aldi and other places and they've been great - sometimes able to get a fresh one reduced on Christmas Eve, so we put that in the freezer for the New Year. Aldi usually do 2 types - ordinary or stuffed. Plus a crown doesn't take as long to defrost.;)
Like well-medicated, we also take it out on the 23rd but then we put it in a coolbox in the garage to defrost to cook Christmas morning.0 -
Barney imho fresh is the nicest but for conveinience and money saving the frozen outweighs the fresh .xXx-Sukysue-xXx0

Well done to all those who are organised for Xmas already. Ive brought a few pressies for my grandchildren mainly, they are easy to buy for, Im stuck on everyone else though. Last year I had all the pressies brought and wrapped early, the only problem was I didnt write a list of what Id brought for everyone, forgot and ended up buying a couple of things twice lol, in the end I had to unwrap a few bits to check what Id brought, so this year Im keeping a list and not wrapping until nearer the time.

I never wrap time very near the time. I've tried before but things end up getting ripped especially unusual shaped things and I had to re-wrap things.0

In what sense?
This year, we have cut our budget dramatically. There WILL be no huge pile of pressies each for the kids. To be honest, I'm not sorry about this either. They don't respect it, and I've found this to be a recurring theme these days with other folks too. Kids get so much that they don't care about it.
When I was younger, we had a lot less, but we appreciated what we got because of that. Some of our old games are still in good working order, with all the pieces etc. Mind you, games these days aren't up to the quality they used to be *sigh*
Handmade gifts - always good!
Instead of buying selection boxes, it's sometimes cheaper to buy seperate bars and wrap them up together.
Turn the telly off on christmas day, and the puter. Have a family day. Break out the games, cards, charades.
I had beautiful decorations.....before the floods. They were handmade, by myself and the family. Natural leaf swags, with berries. Acorns, glittered up to look frosted. Pith roses, bunched into threes, with berries and greenery, for the tree. Dried orange slices.
Studio cards and gifts - I bought from there, a few years back, 50m rolls of wrapping paper, for under a fiver each. They are STILL going strong! Might be worth looking intoProud to be dealing with my debts :T
