oh christmas, can i join in please?
i made a start on knitting a waistcoat last night for my mum, it was a bargain as the wool is lovely and only cost £1 at a car boot so really all that is costing me is time.
I salvaged some 'as new' cushion pads from some that came with the settee when we brought it but were never used, im going to make new covers for them with my nephew and nieces names on.
i've got a fabric advent calendar with little pockets i fill up each year and ive got a tin of quality street that didnt get touched last year, its not out of date till nov08 but im sure the sweets will be fill as advent fillers.
Must find some prepared hyachinth bulbs to get them started in september as DD always does those for grandparents for christmas.
I've got £80 of sainsbury vouchers i won so ive put them away for christmas.
Must make a list of who needs pressies and start doing ideas, ive got a few bits squirrelled away and loads of cards paper etc in the attic. If i dont have lists i forget who ive already done for and end up seeing something else so doubling up on pressies.
Will also do mum and me a hamper by popping something extra in the trolley each week that way i dont miss the cost.SPC~12 ot 124

That is wonderful thank you.
I have measured the tin across and it is 8.5" so will use the 8" recipe - is that right. I think I very vaguely remember you might measure diagonally across the tin ???
Think I will be using the Delia recipe - there are no walnuts in that one and I prefer less nuts
Thank you so much Hun

Hi everyone,
I'm actually looking forward to xmas this year (dont normally). Sorted out my wordrobe over the wkend n dug out all of the pressies i've bought so far. I was gobsmacked, didnt realise i'd bought so much already!!! Only got 4 presents left to get. Also came across 3 rolls of paper and a load of gift tags. Also bought my xmas cards last wk. They were an absolute bargain cost me 80p for 84 cards and they're nice.
For some stupid reason i said the family could come to me this year. We would normally go to my nanas but she has moved to a tiny flat n theres no way we'd all fit. On a v tight budget so would be good to start planning now. Not the best baker in the world so maybe i should delegate tasks n each can bring something to contribute to the feast!
Will keep my eyes peeled to more hints n tips.£387.39/£196.46

Hello all!
Gosh i really need to get a move on, i don't have a single thing bought for xmas which is so unlike me, i usually start in the jan sales lol but this year has been so hectic with the house move and new baby that i'm just so unorganised!Dont even have any money put by for it as every penny has gone on the house. I do have about £30 on an Asda xmas card towards food though, i add to that every week when i shop.
I think i'll start small with some stocking fillers for DD as tesco have got lots of little stationery bits and bobs reduced

last year I ran out of wrapping paper and had to use brown paper.
Looked very posh with twine and a cinnamon sticks.
Will be wrapping more in that this year0 -
Hi all
Ohhhh - sorry 1 more question - I want to do little brother and SIL a Christmas Cake but they don't like fruit cake - would sponge do or would that be a disaster ???
T xx
loads of people don't like fruit Tashja, so they're not alone and sponge would be fine - you can still decorate it festively...........just don't do it yet though0 -

I need some help with ideas for what to get my dad.
Two Christmas's ago he had an epileptic seizure when left him with limited speech, terrible short term memory, he can't read or write now and has a limited attention span and can't be left on his own for long. It's like having a full grown toddler.
He obviously does not work now due to all of this.
He use to be really into reading, cooking and gardening but can't do any of that unaided now.
Last year I brought him some veg seeds but he basically killed the plants due to over watering - he won't listen to my mum regarding anything  and can get quite aggressive.
He likes to have a drink but because of his medication (and aggression) I don't want to do anything linked to that.
I've given socks "dad" and "granddad" beforebut because of his fat calves he won't wear them and my mum ends up with them.
Does anyone have any ideas?0
