I've got five presents so far, which is pretty bad for me, but I'm not trusting myself to hit the shops!

Christmas savings are doing ok. Mum's saving all her clubcard coupons, mine are hopefully going to stock out the flat. Also saving vouchers from toluna for Sainsbury's and we save with the milkman every week for a few treats.

Need to get more wrapping paper though - cue cheapo catalogue:xmastree:

I have loads of wrapping paper bought in the sales at the beginning of the year.

My cards are all written, bar the ones I need to post.

I have a general idea what I am buying the children.. The 3 little ones I have already finished shopping for. I know what I am getting the 2 younger boys. Just the 2 oldest (DS is 17 and DD is 14.5) and DD2 to think of something for.. I am almost tempted to give in and get DD2 the doggy she has been asking for for YEARS!!! She doesn't want anything else has never asked for anything else and is now 11 and old enough to poop scoop and take for walks.. accompanied by DD2 of course!

    I am considering getting a 10ft tree..

I have a list of everything I NEED to do before christmas and a vague idea of when I need to do it by.

Cake .. I'll bake in October
Food shop.. booked for 22nd December.. then anything not available I will be able to get from elsewhere
List of fruit and veg and meats written. My BIL is a butcher so I'll hand him the list and he will bring it round for me on the 22nd and I'll give him cash! Easy done! I'll take the list of fruit and veg into the shop at the end of the street and they'll box it up for me and I'll go round and collect it.

We have a family gathering.. at my house naturally on the 26th.. which is my birthday.. so I spend that waiting on guests.. about right isn't it! But it means the boxes of presents are tidied and a lot put away before then. I have only ever once been to the pub on my birthday.. and that was for drink in the middle of the afternoon.. so I had lemonade.. as I had to go home and put the children to bed.

Hi have been enjoying reading this thread, and although my dh thinks we are all nuts:) he will be pleased when it is all bought and made and sorted, and not costing the earth either. I too love to get started early and am making my cards soon, and have already bought a lot of gifts and wrapping paper was bought in a sale months ago, and have also bought baby gifts too for my dh two neices who are both having their babies in December, and have bought a few gifts for a few young ones who live nearby too. I am also knitting for the babies, and for my best friend's daughter too, who is having a baby in March(I know but i like to have things sorted out early always:) Getting stuff each week for the shoebox appeal as well. Started to buy a few tinned stuff each week in the shopping so I can put them away in the cupboard and the bill won't be such a shock either.I think it is the best way doing all this and of course fun too, sharing tips and getting great ideas from all the lovely people on this wonderful site:)

 Wow! That's so organised :T Christmas is still a distant memory for me from last December, and seeing as Summer technically hasn't happened, I guess I had better not get my hopes up. Maybe I will be more organised this year like you all are - could save lots of cash. In January last year and this year I did buy some Xmas cards and wrapping paper too, which was a start

    POSTED JULY 2006:
Just been to pick a couple of bits up from town and have a nose at the sales and managed to snag myself a bargin :

Went into Poundland and they had their Christmas stock on clearance so I bought :
    • 6m x 70cm Disney (okay, winnie-the-pooh ) wrapping paper x 5
    • 10m x 70cm Traditional wrapping paper x 4
      • Total price £4.50 for 9 rolls (70m x 70cm) :j:j
So I have my wrapping paper sorted, my cards are from clearance in Tesco last year and I'm getting DD to make some crafty gifts for people over the summer. Maybe the £310 budget won't have to be so big after all :D

I'm still using this wrapping paper & the Christmas cards :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Right, XMAS 2008 :

    To buy for :
    • Parents (token gift)
    • Niece (1st Christmas)
    • Brother (Voucher)
    • Daughter
    • Ex - but from DD, if she wants to get his new girlfriend something he can pay for it!
I'm about half-way there already (excluding DD) - total spent to date £20 for 4 gifts ;). Will probably end up doing the school photos for everyone thing again as well.

This will be our first Christmas without Ex here, not looking forward to it at all ATM.

I've just found this thread, so glad I have. Hubby thinks I'm barking as I've usually got all my Christmas presents sorted by September. He told me I was bonkers for buying presents for dd's nursery teachers in the Jan sales. (Fair point I suppose, seeing as she doesn't actually start until Oct 6th :rotfl: )

I have to be organised though, between now and Christmas eve, I have 15 family Birthdays and 3 anniversarys to buy presents for. If I don't get Christmas sorted now, I'll never catch up.

The only problem is now my gift "box" has overflowed and is taking over my bedroom.
Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j
