For deposit and first month's RIA - you need to look into an ABC bond as soon as possible. The CAB or Housing Office should be able to help with this.
Sorry Gemmzie - what is an ABC bond please?

It's basically a certificate which is like a promise to the landlord that if anything goes wrong they'll get their money without having to put down a physical deposit.
Not all landlords will accept them, but if you can get one then it's definitely worth trying to find a landlord who'll accept it.

It might be called something different in your area, but it's worth exploring

I was discussing this situation with my daughter having thought about it all the way home from work, when it hit me that the council had forgotten the most important fact in all this.
THEY HAD FORGOTTEN THE NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN:mad: IN THEIR SHORTSIGHTEDNESS OF WANTING TO PUNISH THE MOTHER THEY IGNORED THE OVERRIDE NEED TO PROTECT HER CHILDREN, SURELY IN THE EYES OF THE LAW THEY HAVE FAILED IN THEIR DUTY UNDER THE HOUSING CHARTER. TWO CHILDREN WILL NOW BE FORCED OUT ONTO THE STREETS

MOT come Monday 12pm pack you bags and get yourseLF around to the housing office, dont budge until they are forced to give you some kind of accommodation for you and your kids.

Has no one thought to send MOT's link to the Daily Mail, Express Newspapers. DM would have a fieldday with the council over this!

  • MoT,

Bad mother? Certainly not! You are a victim of this terrible system. I am appalled that the Council can treat you in this way.

    Love to you all.

I copied this from the Oodles of Support for MOT thread because I thought it may be relevant to do with the publicity aspect, what does anyone think?

Floss has answered the query about the shortsightedness of the council but mentioned contacting Social Services HOWEVER this isn't an option as according to my solicitor SS only have a duty to house the children and they are NOT leaving my side!!!
