I am an ex employee of HSBC and although I have no sympathy with those who delibrately go overdrawn, I know the most of this type of forum aren't those people. Therefore, if anyone needs any general advice about how best to get things done with HSBC, then let me know.0

Like what exactly? They're just like any other bank. They will keep telling you to !!!!!! off until you sue them.0

Hi, Ive got an bank account with HSBC, I went overdrawn a couple of times last year, due to my car packing in and then other random things that kept coming up.
I sent an letter claiming my bank charges back using the 1st step process template and I got an reply saying, they acknowledged my complaint about bank charges but they said they dont agree etc and then went into one about the bank charge case...
what is my next step to claiming my money back? shall I send the 2nd templete letter or what?
your advise is much appreciated
Thanks

Erm!!!!!!
No bank will be paying back any overdrawn charges at the current moment. The reason being is that there is a massive court that the banks have brought to court. If successful, the banks win or unsuccessful, a massive windfall for the customers.
You can keep on sending the letter / predraft templates in but they will keep it on hold.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

So much mis-information here!
You stick to the letters & ignore what the bank say about "its all on hold or we don't pay out anymore now that the test case has started". Send the letters in as usual & start the court claim as usual. It will get stayed, but it will be accepted & paid out after the case is over.0 -
Can anyone explain how HSBC can charge me 25.00 GBP arrangement fee for a 50.00 GBP overdraft limit which i don't use? I've called HSBC who claim that a letter was sent out giving me 14 days to reply to these charges. But i'm sure i've not received a letter as i don't get paper statements and therefore any i do get are very obviously important.
any ideas on where to go with this?0 -
Not sure where you got 8 weeks from, I gave them 14 days to respond
to my preliminary approach for repayment letter before sending my LBA
off to them
Thanks Oliver27,
I got the 8 weeks thing from this forum somewhere. It said lodge the initial letter which I have done, HSBC have written back to me saying they'll do nothing until the the case is resolved. I assume my next step is to submit the court letter. Also sorry for being stupid but what is the LBA letter you referred to.
Kind regards for your help.
