Hi Kippsy, thank you for your birthday wishes...really appreciate it.

Poor you and gallstones...have never experienced this myself, but it sounds like torture. I saw your other post on the subject and was rather horrified. Has your doctor written to your MP him/herself? If he/she hasn't then I think that is a bit cheeky suggesting you do it... It depends on your MP of course, but a letter from a patient compared to a letter from a doctor on the same topic would pull different strings of the same problem. You both want the same thing, ie for you to get this problem dealt with asap but your MP may respond more positively to a letter from a GP rather than a patient - I think both letters are needed to cover all eventualities!

I hope your mum arrives as planned on Monday...sounds like you haven't seen her for a while...enjoy your time together.

All the best, and thanks again for the birthday wishes.

    Hi,

Hope it's Ok to join in.

Love Old Style, it's my favourite bit of MSE. Thought it was about time I said Hello.

At the moment 'between' houses, can't find the right place at the right price, so renting.

As we could be anywhere, and needed two months for the summer, ended up in France as it was cheapest. Finding a 2 month let in the UK at non-holiday prices was just impossible in July & August.

Still trying to be as old style as possible though! Got my Hypermarche Loyalty card last week, Hypermarche trips only once a fortnight to minimise the impulse buying, and taking a shopping list. It's a bit difficult though, being out of the country you get the 'holiday impulse' every so often, and it's not supposed to be a holiday!! But it's a balancing act between budget & wanting to take advantage of being here.

Already learning the essential French Old Style vocabulary for all the different types of special offers and vouchers! So Old Style does travel.

    Bye for now,

    Sharon

    :hello: Hello :hello:

Not much moneysaving today - well, not much money spending either. :D

I finished all my ironing yesterday, but after doing a couple of loads of washing yesterday, it looks like it's all ready to start again. :(

My OH has set me on the task of finding the best broadband deal for his parents, and would you believe it, he calls us money saving nerds? ;) Anyway, he's damn grateful for all the savings I've implemented and when he was cleaning the bathroom the other day he got some vinegar out as "it's the only thing that cuts through some of the muck". Ok, we're not that mucky, but you can't help trying to get clean? :)

After my interview this afternoon, I'm off up to my parents'. One of my friends is there for the weekend and we haven't seen each other for ages, so we'll have a good catch up. Then Sunday I'm off to the Game Fair with my mum - I'm hoping for large food tents stuffed full of smoked salmon. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm :j :j :j

    Good morning!
Dishwasher emptied, don't know why that should be one of my least favourite tasks (not as bad as ironing, though!) Surely doing the washing up would be worse?! Anyway, it's done for this morning.
Washing done, ready to go on the line. The sky is a bit grey today, so hope it will stay dry.
I don't think I have any outside things to do today, so it looks as if this will be a "catch up with the cleaning" day, as I have been so busy this week, in fact have hardly been on MSE at all.
    Have a nice day, everyone!

Up at 6.30 (but woken around 5am just couldn't be bothered getting up :o ) and I've been pretty productive so far :
    • Both beds made
    • All things like DD's rocking horse and the wash basket picked up off the floor ready for me to hoover the bedrooms
    • All my internet looking done - I'm only here now while I have a cup of coffee
    • DD off to school after she got up at 6.30 as well
    • Cleaning stuff all together in a box and upstairs ready for the cleaning
    • Toilet soaking in a limescale removing toilet cleaner
    • Masterbedroom window clean on the inside - I need to do the outside but it's raining again!
Plan for the rest of the day :
    [] Hoover Bedrooms x 2 / bathroom / kitchen / livingroom / stairs
    [] Dust bedrooms / livingroom / stairs
    [] Clean bathroom
[] Put shower back on wall (the bar bit has come down again! new rawplug and filler here I come!)
    [] Dishes
    [] Clean kitchen
    [] Clean Oven
[] Clean floors (soapy water and window cleaning fleece thing) kitchen / livingroom
[] Handwashing - if the rain goes off otherwise I'm going to ring my nan and ask can I use her washingmachine tomorrow while we are there visiting as its underwear / DD's PJs that NEED washing.
[] Ironing - tonight while watching Eastenders I think. No CSI tonight as I have tonights episode on DVD so I'll watch a film instead especially as I have also seen tonight episode of Most Haunted (FTN) as well
[] Make up cordials for fridge (including finishing of the lemonade I made yesterday)
[] Tea - fish of some kind as it's Friday

Last night I changed the curtains in the masterbedroom back to the ones that should be in there and brought the others down and put them up in the livingroom. They don't look too bad and actually go rather well with the decor even if they do have planet/moon/suns all over them :rotfl:I also changed the cushion covers on the sofa to two large ones which can take two of the cushions so there will be less mess with them over the holidays ;) Plus DD spent yesterday afternoon sucking on them while watching TV. I didn't know about until I went to move one last night  Yes I know I haven't got a washing machine so whats the point of changing curtains etc but if I don't do it now then they'll sit there in situ until after the holidays - at least by changing them now they are in the wash basket and WILL get done :rotfl:

I also FINALLY did a coat of gloss on the shelves from the bathroom. I only did the top bit where you put stuff and I still need to do the trim which stops stuff falling off AND the underneath but at least I'm getting there. I just hope I have enough gloss paint

Coffee is finished. One more thread to read and I'm off.

    Laters

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

    Good morning all......

Last day of term here too - kids packed off to school with homemade bread sarnies some fridge biscuits I made last night and some of yesterdays quiche, along with half the fruit bowl.

DH has a big interview today, great promotion if he gets it and between a £10-£18K a year payrise... fingers crossed everybody please!!!

Havn't had time all week to get any major housework done so having a complete blitz today so I can relax over the weekend. On my 3rd load of washing and the pile is growing everytime I finish sorting a room. Changed all the beds, got all the towles to do and some bright spark spilt coke over my sofa so thought I might as well get the covers off the whole suite and give them a freshen up. Got a mountain of ironing to sort later too. Have had a turf out of my built in wardrobe, sorted out my present box and started a box off for ebay stuff. I only need to get 1 more xmas pressie and that's all the family sorted, have started to pick things up for the kids as I see them too so I'm well on the way.

Planning to make something with a pork loin, some peppers, onions, potatoes and paprika later - will shove it in the slow cooker and bung some cream in at the end - did something similar last week and it was yummy. Pork loin was reduced to 45p in asda the other week and has been languishing in the freezer.

Going to tackle the dust on the high shelves now - think I may need some good loud music to wiggle away too whilst I'm doing it.

    Have a wonderful day everyone.

    good morning all
  • Wow Nicki I'm impressed. I feel exhausted just reading that list!

I have been away with work all week so my first job is to catch up on reading all the threads I've missed since Monday. I have somehow managed to tweak my back so although there's lots to be done I'm a bit restricted to things that don't involve bending! Sounds like a good excuse not to vacuum really.

Have sold two items on Ebay this week so I'm about to toddle off to the Post office and get them sent off. I thought it was about time I started selling as well as buying - my house was getting rather full of 'bargains'.

    Have a lovely day everyone.
