Rebob - oh, well that's a helpful psychologist, then. "nothing wrong"? Clearly something has been a cause for concern, else your son wouldn't have been there.

I'm glad to hear that there seems like a positive way forward for your son now they have realised that his hearing may be having an impact.

I knew someone who was seeing a psychiatrist for depression, and she suggested the person try cannabis as a way of relaxing (not heard of the potential links to mental health problems then?!), and make some tapes of nice relaxing music to listen to! Yep, I'm sure that's the way forward for depression.

Rebob- my thoughts are with you. I learnt yesterday that we're going down the route of statementing for my son [he's just 7] which is the right thing I think but a heck of a shock and husband is still away.......anyway I am remaining positive about the outcome and remembering that I am incredibly lucky to have a gorgeous small person who brings me a lot of joy.
Changing tack- I got my Be-Ro book yesterday and small person is rather taken with the blobs recipe in the Children's section. I can feel an OS afternoon coming up in the summer holiday cooking those and other wonders from his Roald Dahl Revolting Recipes. Will I have the nerve to bring the results from this in my HM packed lunch the following week I wonder!!
Still not much OS as working at full tilt [it's lunch time] but did manage to pick up a 1/2 price pair of trainers for the small person in the Clarks sale. Have also at long last finished some wall hangings for home with some of my favourite photos and postcards that I've collected over the years. I've stuck them onto hessian type fabric with dowel rods at the top and bottom made from some of the old bars from my son's cot. Husband also used the base of the cot at the weekend to construct a shelf to go inside one of our cupboards for extra storage. It's going to sardine burgers tonight for speed and ease of production and all my plans for producing a posh sponge for the fete tomorrow have gone out of the window. Methinks it's going to be that good old standby of chocolate crunchies again!!
Hope to see you all tomorrow!!

((((((Rebob)))))) Lets hope now that you & your son can progress & get through it:A.

Have given up trying to motivate myself & am sitting glued to news 24, am desperately trying to get hold of my best friend who works just off of Oxford St but her office is shut & her mobile network is down. Am trying to reassure myself that she should be OK & just stuck in pedestrian traffic as she doesn't use any of the affected tube stations.

Am being OS in eating up last nights leftover takeaway for lunch as there isn't room for it in the freezer plus it's comfort food.

Like others of you - I'm going to watch the news this afternoon, whilst fitting in jobs around it.

TBH -I'm just thankful we've moved up north. Mr TM used to be a police officer in the Met and other forces and he last worked for BTP at King's Cross! However, I have other friends who I used to work with who transferred to BTP, on the underground.

Was going to tell you of all the wonderful OS things I was going to do today - lots of baking with DS2 etc, but no enthusiasm for it now.

Rebob - (((hugs))) I know what it's like when you try to flag up something that you think isn't right with your kids. I was told my DS was too young for me to have spotted potential speech problems, but I insisted and yep - he had them. However, he was in speech therapy before he was 3 so he has a good chance of speaking normally within a few years. My nephew has ADHD and it took them years to diagnose him - just took one person who knew what they were on about to recognise it and now he's being treated - different child altogether. Keep on their case - you know your child better than they do and you'll make sure you get the best for him, I'm sure.

thanks to everyone. Have had a good long chat with friends and now feel much better. both friends (who do not know each other) have said on hearing the news that he seems like other kids they have in their families that have ADHA??? (right order?) I have been asking for this checking for the last 3 years to no joy. At least we now are getting help on side that admit there is a problem. I have an appointment with the childrens services next week so will ask for more help now that it has been agreed that there is a problem. I am happy that something is happening and just sad that it has taken so long and that he has had teachers and others "at him" when he did not know why.

Anyway, I have posted on the mortgages board that I have had a good result. Look here at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=70885

Had a bit of a stressful morning so far - Boyf's father has a flat a two min walk away from Edgeware Road, because he has to work in London a lot and goes to work by tube, so as soon as I heard on the news I had to wake him up and get on the phone to check he wasnt caught up in the awfulness of this morning. Fortunatley, he went to work by Marble Arch station, and was in a meeting already by the time the first explosion happened, but it was a bit nerve wracking anyway.

Been glued to the TV still, I usually end up not working when something serious happens so end up watching it on tv, and was a little disturbed, so have dragged myself away from it.

Tuesday was bad - Unfortunately I cant graduate this year as I needed the pass in that unit to get the degree, so I was 2% away, however, my tutors were really good and because I already had problems earlier on in the year, I can register as an exams only student next year, and do the exam and get the degree then. Which means its a year away, and I was quite distressed, but I woke up yesterday and felt a bit better, I figure there is nothing else that can be done now, so ive just gotta get on with other stuff and just deal with it. I ended up taking myself shopping and have bought myself a lovely notebook for all my recipe's to go in, have bought some quilt making equiptment, and a large notebook for all my revision for the exam next year.

Ive also found a house!!! I walked into an agents yesterday, and there was a 3 bed house with lots of parking and gardens, and its close enough to town to please everyone and in our budget, so ive organised a viewing for tomorrow. Ive gotta go to a bank open evening tonight, as im still looking for a job, and want to do some baking, so Im off, gotta get on again.

Take care everyone, and I hope you are all safe.

    Jo xx

Thanks everyone. Just been on the phone with Hubby and told him what the report said. I don't want to talk about it with ds there as we don't want him to think that he is a problem or that it is his fault. could have done with mum and dad here but they are in rome on their jollies.
Do you know, a friend of mine had similar trouble with her ds and the first thing the school told her - that's the FIRST thing - was: "He must be autistic." Then: "It's because your marriage has broken down." But when she insisted, it turned out he too had hearing problems. It really annoys me the way these people jump to the easy option and, therefore, "it's not our fault, so it must be yours." Grrrr!

Anyway, I've had a fair day today. Work this morning was a mad rush as someone made me a 9am appointment when they know I don't start until 9.30. I'm just not used to the traffic at that time of the day - and there is a difference - and so I was 10 minutes late. The first I heard of the explosions in London was when our company sent an all staff email around instructing us to cancel any plans (I assume on company business) of travelling to London. No doubt we'll find out more as the day/evening/week progresses. But the first thing I did was call my friends in London to make sure they were ok. I'm due there Monday afternoon ...

Because I have far too many hours in the bank I decided to come home in order to get on with some work, and then I got involved in the Tesco coupons thread. I was a Tesco online customer when it first came out and it used to be great then as it'd collect the latest information and then disconnect so you didn't run up a huge phone bill browsing. The £5.99 delivery charge for peak time seemed a bit steep, but it was only £5 when it first came out about 5 years ago, which doesn't seem so bad. And at least you can opt for a £4.99 or £3.99 delivery. So, armed with one of those £10 off codes, which I thought would pay for the delivery and still give me a bit of a discount, I "went shopping". I won't know how much under my £50 budget it comes to until I see the final bill tomorrow tea time when it's delivered. But if it's any good, I'll certainly give it another go as it stops me impulse buying. I shall still need to plan meals and do a list.

No time at the moment to get on with work as I have to have a quick, light tea (spag hoops on toast) in a minute, which will be 2 hours before my aerobics class.
