The above trick with a box of citric acid works too, replacing with hot water and letting it soak over night.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

Or denture tablets! Chuck a few in, leave overnight and you might need to get your shoulder length gloves on and scrub. Wire wool will get rid of limescale deposits...Bossymoo

Harpic Power everytime for me!
I live in a hard water area and my upstairs loo rarely gets used so the limescale builds up but Harpic Power has it sparkling!
I economise on lots of things but not loo cleaner0 -

I plunge the toilet brush up and down the bend entrance until most of the water is gone and then give it a damn good scrub with Vim powder.0

Any of the above tricks to soften the limescale, then scrape with a 2p piece- that'll knock the scale off the porcelain. Pretty gross but highly satisfying! They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0

Get as much of the water out as you can - with sponge or mop. Careful if you break the seal (i.e. get all water out round the U bend) it well stink but at least you will know all the water will be out!!!
Then pour in several bottles of white vinegar and leave at least over night. THen scrub - you will need gloves. - and flush. It should all be off then
ETA - there are several threads about nasty loos!
This one gets my vote. You will need to wear gloves, and actually get your hands into the toilet, but it's well worth it to give it a good clean (and far, far more hygeinic than using a loo brush!).
Personally, I would also add some hot water to the mix as it speeds up the process. But not too much, you don't want to dilute the vinegar too much.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -

I lay strips of loo roll inside the bowl to 'coat' the sides, and then spray a vinegar or bleach solution onto the paper to soak through onto the bowl - usually the liquids just sink to the water line and this keeps them applied for a good soak in.
The bicarb and vinegar thing was great on the bath - cleared everything off that! Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Hi all,
I know that questions about limescale seem to have been done to death and I've read posts about lemon, coca cola and vinegar... but these all seem to relate to limescale below water level, which are fine suggestions because your chosen liquid can sit in the water in the pan.
However, we seem to have limescale on the back of the toilet pan so I've soaked in vinegar but this obviously didn't touch the back as it can't "soak" there and just runs away.
Any ideas please? We're moving out shortly and will need to have this toilet sparkling to get our deposit back!
ThanksYou were only killing time and it'll kill you right back0
