Wow these tips are great. I am going to try the vinegar tip tonight and hopefully that will do it. I bought a wire brush to scrub it with afterwards its just there isn't much room to get into that little area.
Intrigued by the WD40 idea. My husband always has some as he thinks its the answer to everything.
Well, thanks so much. Shall give it a whirl tonight armed with my vinegar, towels, wire brush and knife. Hoping I might get a 'new loo' like another poster this week got a 'new cooker' thanks to all you clevers peeps. Quite excited. :jAUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

hi there
what is the best way to remove limescale from my toilet ,i poured like a liter of lime scale remover into the toilet but nothing happened, many thanks0 -
I pour about two glassfuls of vinegar in the bowl and leave overnight. Works a treat.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0

There's also another thread here about limsecale in the loo.0

unfortuately i find the only way of removing it is to put on rubber gloves and actually scrub the pan after using the stuff.0

Hi myself321,
There's a long thread on removing limescale from the loo that should help so I've added your post to it to keep all the suggestions together.

We live in a hard water area and suffer from the limescale prob. Tried all sorts of cleaners for the loo -they all say they'll shiftlimescale and don't. I ended up getting a pumice stone with a wooden handle from kleeneze.......seems to do the trick but hard work...........could do with knowing the right cleaner to use. Often wondered about Harpic............my Mum used to use it and it worked but not sure whether we were in a hard water area then or not.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Rubber gloves on. Scoop water out with anything that's the right shape. Pour in vinegar. Wait as long as you can. (depends how many loos in the house!!) Hand back down toilet, bit of a scrub and the limescale comes off. I know because I've done it! (Better than any of those expensive things you can buy!)0
