I am surprised with all the Tesco shoppers no one has mentioned this one! The Face Lift moisturiser/illuminator is the best I have ever used, under foundtaion or on its own it is divine. Our local shop is always selling out of it so I tend to buy 2 when I see them. There is also an eye gel pen that is lovely - I don't think anything in the range is over £6 and it is excellent stuff.

And I second the aqueous cream as a super moisturiser - I buy the 500 m pots for about £2.50....for some reason it is only available by asking the at the pharmacy at our local Boots....

Love this thread.....thanks for all the great web sites :O)
there is now research to show that aqeous cream can actualy lead to drying of the skin!!!odd i know but i get this from time to time for my daughter from our GO, he has now changed her prescription in light of this recent research

For shaving use aqueous cream or baby oil - brilliant. coconut oil from Superdrug is a brilliant deep hair conditioner (or even olive oil) - just apply to the hair, wraap in a towel and rinse out after half an hour or so. coconut oil is solid when you buy it but melts at a really low temp so a quick blast in the microwave or in a pot of hot water melts it. Obviously you have to shampoo it out, but I think it is still very cheap. Baby oil is also a really good eye make up remover.

Cookiemonster - I agree - Touche Eclat is very overrated. L'Oreal do a similar one, and its half the price and just as good, if not better. It doesn't always pay to buy the most expensive.

  • I know this site has been mentioned before, but I have been sooo impressed with the service. I have placed two orders since being recommended on a post here and both times I have received it the next day. I also received small free gift with the secod order - think this was cos it was over £25..( yep budgeting still working though cos I saved sooo much there..would have cost about three times that at least in the shops!)
I bought two Urban Decay items that are still selling in my local large bpoots store..one was £8 cheaper and the other was £7 cheaper...I love it! Thanks to whoever posted originally I can't remember :j
  • Vaseline is great for lips, Claudie, and for softening any rough skin too! But if you buy a tub of Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline is the branded product - bit like the difference between buying, say, Ibuprofen & Neurofen, I guess), then you get twice as much product for about half the price! You can get it in lots of pharmacies, Poundland, and other cheapie shops!

I forgot to add the best ever lip gloss - Vaseline! The little travel size pot at 99p is a blessing and should be (IMHO!) in every make up bag.....good for lip gloss, glossing over your own lippie, a wee bit to tidy eyebrows, dry skin, exzema, rashes and about anything else you can think of :O)

When you've finished your very handy little travel size pot, you can then refill it for a fraction of the price, from your Petroleum Jelly tub!

  • Oops, forgive me sending that last post twice (I was trying to add something in to the end, which I managed to do in the second post, but pressed submit by accident the first time!) - as you'll see, I am a Newbie MS.

Anyway, I'd definitely add to the couple of people who've mentioned the benefits of dry skin brushing - it's great for keeping your skin looking good and blemish-free. It also helps get rid of any in-growing hairs from waxing/shaving. And after the initial cost of the brush (around £6), it's FREE!!!
  • I buy a lot of my cosmetics from ebay, great bargains to be had, if you buy brand new, still in packaging, unopened stuff. Haven't bought any perfume cos too scared of fakes but everything else, make up and skin care has been great!
  • The only cosmetics I buy are Estee Lauder Double wear foundation and Maybelline Mascara. Double wear really does last all day and you don't need much of it so a bottle lasts me up to 3 months and I wear it every day. I only ever buy it, two bottles at a time when there is a free gift offer on. I built up a great collection of powder, blusher, eyeshadows, lipsticks and mascara (I don't like the mascara). I have so much I now often sell the bags of goodies for around £10 on ebay - so get some of the money back. Also Estee Lauder counters often have a brow bar where you can get your eyebrows "done" and they will take the £9.50 cost off any product you may wish to buy. So I do that at the same time as buying the make-up and they let me take the £9.50 off and have the free gift. I then try to keep my eyebrows sorted myself until the next time I go!
