Is it possible to post my meal plan for the week and my shopping receipt on here for you to analyse, I'd love some feedback on where I am wasting money.[/QUOTE
I went shopping at the weekend as I was walking around the aisles I noticed that I was very conscious of what I was buying as I knew I would have to put every detail on this site!
It actually made me think about what I was buying and it also made me realise how much I buy on impulse (something I really thought I didn't do!). I had a really low shopping bill because of this. :j
For the moment I'm not going to post my shopping bills but every time I go shopping, I'm going to threaten to myself that I will and then hopefully keep my bills down!0 -
Im planning ona budget for food of £25 per week for 1 monday-friday and 2 at the weekend (VERY hungry OH), this will include cleaning and toiletries altho i tend to stock up on them on pay day.0

This weekend my shopping came to £58.94 on a weekly budget of £50. I'm not very upset at this as it came in quite a lot cheaper over the past 2 weeks, and I did have to buy a gift for someone in hospital this week and some injury gel that I wouldn't normally.spendy/she/her ***DEBT-FREE DATE: 11 NOVEMBER 2022!*** Highest debt: £35k (2006) MY WINS: £3,541 CASH; £149 Specsavers voucher; free eye test; goody bag from Scottish Book Trust; tickets to Grand Designs Live; 2-year access to Feel Amazing App (worth £100); Home Improvement & Renovation Show tickets; £50 to spend on chocolate; Harlem Globetrotters tickets; Jesus Christ Superstar tickets + 2 t-shirts; Guardians of the Galaxy goody bag; Birmingham City v Barnsley FC tickets; Marillion tickets; Dancing on Ice tickets; Barnsley FC v Millwall tickets0

Well, budget has kinda gone to pot this month - £28 or so OVER!!! Yikes!!
Had best draw a line under this month, and start the concerted effort next!0 -
Hmm, so far so good, seem to still be topping up here and there. About £10.97 within budget overall, not as much as I'd hoped once I totted up all the bits n pieces. But seeing as I rarely spent less than £75 a week on groceries previously, its still brilliant
Challenge for the rest of the week is not to make little purchases, tempting as my purse is currently full o coins. A diet coke here and an impulse purchase there can really throw you off track.
Also got shocked to find how much I spend on jars of ready made saucesIt has to stop! To make my target of £60 per wk next month, Im going to get even more old-style and make my own bolognaise sauces from scratch, wish me luck!

Just out of curiosity, what do other OS'ers think is a reasonable monthly budget for a family of 4 (kids aged 2 & 3), both kids in nappies, & we're meat-eaters. Just wondering if my weekly shopping budget is too generous or too mean.0
-
It's hard isn't it! We still buy nappies (for nights) for both of them but do try to buy when on offer (Tescos normally have pampers on offer- Active Fit are the only ones we've found that don't leak!) If you buy disposable for 2 kids day and night you're looking at around £30+ per month just for those.
Don't know what reasonable amount is p/week but know that £100 (average) is probably too much! What is your weekly budget (out of interest?)20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

Zziggi, it's all down to personal circumstances, it's what is right for you. There's no right or wrong figure and it's not a competition on who can spend the least money hun
Personally my budget is £200 a month for 5 people. 2 cats and 2 guinea pigs. Usually I can cut this down to £160. This month I can't and will probably spend a bit more as my freezer is almost completely empty and I will be hitting the outdoor market with a vengeance.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I don't have oneI just buy what i think we need, use as many coupons as possible and somehow get by. I am thinking about being a bit more organised and work within a budget, but i don't really have an idea about what i should be spending. I guess i aim for £60-£65 p.w. bu that's excluding meat as we buy that every 3 months and freeze it.
