Ummmm, put off posting on this Challenge because I know I'm off track at the mo - spent 65% of the budget already, and I'd hoped to have been well under!

Will probably redeem some boots adv. card points tomorrow to help things out a little, plus I've rounded up some more coupons. Also, took a quick gander at fixtureferrets to suss out bogofs in Somerfield, where I'll have the opportunity of popping in tomorrow. So, all-in-all, it's not that bad!

I've tried fixtureferrets and they seem excellent for some supermarkets but not all. For listings for Sainsbury's I've found http://www.madaboutbargains.co.uk to be much better.

Joining a bit late in the Month, pay wise. Starting Monday my OH will be in london for 5 weeks only returning at weekends so i plan on living even truer to my OS tendencies while hes away so we can treat ourselves at the weekend and have nice days/nights out which you all have to agree we deserve :p

I adore pasta so im gonna eek out on pasta and as i hate having frozen meals, gonna try to ration my "home made shop bought pasta sauce"

What i do is save all the jars i have, make up batches of my pasta sauce and re-jar then and refrigerate. Dont really know how long they last really as we usually have a quick turn around on them.

Im giving myself £20 a week for 5 weeks to cover the fact i will have to bits n bob shop at the local shops which are slightly more expensive.

Hope i stick to it. Wish me luck!

I just got my first (in 5 years) Tesco online grocery delivery and, with a weekly budget of £50, it came to ... £39.48! Woo-hoo.

Of course, the £10 off ecoupon helped, so I guess that's a pin money saving!

Mind you, I was a bit disturbed that they substituted a BROWN loaf @ 64p for a WHITE toastie loaf @ 91p, but everything else was generally ok.

    I'm very happy with that.

I'm not sure whetherI should own up to this or not..

Went into the supermarket after work on Wedneday to buy butter and flour and came out £34 poorer, without the butter!

In my defence, stocked up on dried beans/pulses, saw some fab Blue Dragon sauces at 49p (will save on the takeaways) and generally stocked up. Still can't believe I forgot the butter though!

So, my £80 monthly budget has been blown well and truly out of the water.

Oh dear! Never mind - since you've been stocking up it might be that with careful menu planning as in a mini store cupboard challenge you might find you need to spend less in the second half of the month. I always spend more than half my money in the first half of the month and, usually, lots less after that.

I seem to be on a bit of an overspend too! My budget was £160 for the month. I am working it by my pay day month and have two and a half weeks left and have spent £80.

I am off on holiday on Tuesday (self catering) so will need to watch the money if I am going to make my target.

i'm probably going to have to spend more than my budget this month too. my ekderly freezer packed up during the night.

It was fairly full too- lots of ice cream as daughter home for the holidays- all of OH's sandwiches for next week. Also a packet of blueberries defrosted and leaked all over the contents of the bottom two shelves!

I've salvaged some things- made meatballs out of a packet of mince and a packet of sausages. Fortunately I have another small freezer in the garage so could freeze the meatballs after cooking them. I also froze the meat I'd bought for tonights dinner and we had some pork steaks that had been frozen but there's not much I can do about the rest of the stuff unless anyone can suggest a use for several tubs of liquid ice cream!

Hey, how you all doing on the challenge ? Its gotten really queit, is the heat getting to everyone ?

Ive blown it again, by 94pence already, but will probably rise to about a fiver by the time I add my pub lunch and pop to the market at the w/end but... my freezer is fully stocked (so full I couldnt take advantage of the tesco misprices this week *sob*) and I only need a teeny top up (she says) next wk :D

Is anyone else finding the heat has sapped their appetite ?
