Take a look under "Shopping" in the MEGA Index sticky at the top of the board. There's a thread or two that might inspire you
Edit: With more to come! I've done about a third of the threads (700ish) so far, so keep watching for new ones.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. :j In budget so far...:jHave to say the best part of doing this challenge is nothing has been chucked away
Normally, by the time the new shopping has been delivered, I would have chucked some stuff out because we didnt use it and it had gone off. Thanks to "old style" and my slow cooker, nothing has been chucked, its all been recycled into casseroles or stews and, today the over-ripe peaches and bananas went into a banana bread using the bread machine which I'll freeze and pack for lunch when I run out of fresh fruit or fancy something sweet n sticky.
Ahhh life is sweet when you save :T
So, overspent again last weekby almost a tenner! BUT thanks to all the BOGOFs and freebies *ahem* I mean misprices, I only spent £52 this week on shopping, and that included £10 worth of BOGOF's for the store cupboard. Which means next week, I only really need a few bits n bobs. In fact, for the first time in ages, I may have to pop into the shop as I wont qualify for free delivery and it will be so ickle I can get it on the bus home :rotfl:
Im so pleased I took up the challenge, thanks squeaky :Afor starting it up"There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children; one of these is roots, the other wings" - Hodding Carter

Hi
I'm not going to make my target which was £200 for everything this month.I was going to do it pay day to pay but changed my mind. I find it easier to do it by month.
So far I've spent £183.09p. As we're going on the train for a day out on Thursday I know we're going to go over the £200 mark as just the train fare is £12. Actually that's pretty good for 2 adults and child, we've got a special local group ticket. We're going to take a picnic which will keep costs down. I've made some pizza cut it up and popped it in a box in the freezer. Will take the box out on Thurs morning and take it with us. By lunchtime it will have defrosted and kept our other food cool at the same time. Not sure what else I'm going to take, might have some crisps as a treat
Oh well onward and upward. Have put a few of my books up for sale.

I set a budget of £200 based on my food and cleaning product and toiletry shopping for last month of around £250 but I've already spent £208 and I've got 2 weeks more shopping to buy!
Now admittedly, this month means I will visit Asda 5 times rather than 4 times as last month, but even so, I'm not doing very well.
I cook most of my meals from scratch, never buy ready meals and don't eat much meat.
Is it possible to post my meal plan for the week and my shopping receipt on here for you to analyse, I'd love some feedback on where I am wasting money.0 -
