OS Daily for Tuesday 15th January 2008 (already!)

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 15th Jan '08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all. Woke up at 3.15 and couldn't get back to sleep but I had a good four hours solid sleep, which is good for me.

It's been a long time since I started the thread.

Hope everyone is getting over their illnesses and (((hugs))) to those who are still poorly.

CSARINA - just seen your beautiful cards. They are fantastic.

MRS MW - couldn't you customise your wheelchair? A local lady here does hers for Christmas and she puts so much stuff on it that you can't see the chair but you can see her coming from miles away. Everyone stops her to talk about it and the kids love it.

DGS7 (8 on Sunday) is coming round after school for dinner and DGS4 (5 next Wednesday) will come round after school on Thursday. I see them together at the weekends but they love to come round for one-on-one time as well. It means I do 'boy' things on one visit and 'girl' things on the other.

Dinner tonight is spaghetti bolognese, which reminds me - I proudly did a freezer inventory yesterday but forgot to tick off the mince when I took it out. I must get into the habit of doing that. I intend to keep completely up to date with my food store. My DH couldn't believe how much I've got - I must have meals ahead for about a month - apart from the fresh fruit and veg. The idea is to have one week a month where I don't have to do a big shop and can put the money away instead.

Well, I'm off to trawl the comp thread. Still haven't won anything but I am determined to spend some time every day entering them.

See you all later.

    Hello everybody,

I've had a solid work day in the house today. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D Didn't bother washing the floors though as it's been drizzling all day. I made a loaf of bread (please note CM) and a pineapple sour cream slice which amazingly isn't fattening at all. ;) Saw the bottom of my ironing basket and wiped out and tidied the kitchen cupboards.

Attacked the bathroom with bleach as all this rainy/humid weather it looked like I was growing fungi as a hobby in there. :D We are having crumbed eggplant for tea (surprise) and leftover pasta bake.

Moiliere I doubt if I could function on 4 hours a night. I don't know how you do it.
Ageandjo Hope you and the others who live nearby don't cop it too bad. The weather I mean.

Hope you all have a great Tuesday. I'll pop back later. Byeeeeeeeeeee

Morning all - everything went out the window yesterday because I went back to work and was exhausted when I got in. I didn't even get to read the Flylady thread let alone do anything on it. The elaborate dinner turned into a sausage sandwich, no housework done at all (kitchen now trashed), and we spent the evening on the sofa under a duvet watching TV. Really need to get a grip this evening or we'll be back where we started. I need to sit down and work out a proper schedule because the gym visits aren't happening either. I'm going to at least put the WM on before I go to work today.

On the plus side, I got 3 OldStyle books and a Lakeland order delivered. I now have the smalls dryer I've been after for ages; all I need is a bit of sunshine so I can hang clothes outside again!

EDIT: Have washed up, wiped kitchen surfaces, shower head soaking in vinegar, straightened bedroom and put laundry on before work.

Off to work soon & it will be manic.
We have our 'Into year 12' evening today & as usual everyone has left it till the last minute to get anything organised, it started to get busy just as I was leaving yesterday. I used to get flustered & put extra hours in, but not any more. I do a 38 hour week for little over £200 a week, so DILLIGAF, is now my motto.
On top of this we have conjunctivitis running through the school like wildfire & our medical lady doesn't do eyes!!! So I'll get called away from my job every 20 mins.
I hope everyone has a tremendous Tuesday.
    Hugs Hester

Morning Mioliere & ageandjo and all who follow/cross.

Woke up earlier today as we went to bed earlier last night, seems I cannot go beyond 7 hours max. DH still snoring of course:rolleyes: .

Thinking of going to Alicante today, and going up to the Castle. Great views from up there. The forecast says windy tomorrow though dry and bright, and it can be breezy up there so will pump for today (if everyone gets up! ).

Our friends go back to the UK on Thursday, so the diet will start in earnest then. Hope to try to keep up the walking regime, but my legs and feet do not like me. How do you explain they just dont want to work properly, bend as they used to, and you have tooth ache in your calves if you walk for a long time. You just feel clumsy. Worst of it is that it is what my Mum used to complain about with hers. Could it be I am just getting old:eek:  or is it the weight, no bigger than I have been for ages, and even then I am much better off than many on here. If I go down the couch potato route then I am fine, but that is not supposed to be good for you:o .

    (((hugs))) all round
    DG

Mrs_M - How about seting your DS on with the washing routine, taught mine how to use a "safe" setting and put it in, take it out, put it in the TD and then on the bed if I sorted it first, and then he learnt to sort it - was good for him once he got to Uni. ;) ((hugs))

Sympathies with the weather, my sidebar shows me it's carp with you all. To be honest we did have a few spots yesterday, but not enough to make me put my coat on:o .

    Morning Everyone:hello:
    :hello: Aussie
:hello: Shez where are you

Didn't sleep too bad so that was good
I'm still battling the washing:mad: I no sooner start to get the pile down and they fill it up again
ds2 is still off school his face is getting better but not enough to go to school
It's very wet and windy here and expected to get worse so if I need anything I will go before it gets too bad
I need to go through the freezer and cupboards at some point to make lists of what I've got as the insurance for dh's lorry still hasn't been sorted so it can't be fixed so that means he isn't likely to go back to work this month meaning very little money at the end of this month and no money in feb hopefully it can be claimed back from the other peoples insurance but we have no knowing when that will be
    best go and get on
    have a good day al

Donny-gal and Aussielass, enjoy your sunshine, we are predicted to have a weeks worth of rain today

Central heating still not working, so anyone who doesn't have it, you have my sympathies. Plumber coming tomorrow, so just have to last for one more day

Going to get some salmon out of the freezer, and will cook it later in my steamer. I've never done that before, do I need to put in on foil or baking paper or something

    Hope everyone is ok x

    morning all,

Very stormy here pouring with rain, and blowing a gale, meant to be getting worse as well, thanks adgandjo for the warning, take it easy. I have the dentist today at 2.30  , to see the hygenist, I dont mind going but she tends to stick a screwdriver thing between my front teeth, which feels like they are about to snap  .

Got sausageplat, wedges and veg for tea, will have a tidy round, and a clear up, need to wash DD's bedding, no hanging out today though :o

Ageandjo, meant to say to you well done for loosing a stone :T
    Hope you are all well

    Have good days all xx

    Morning All

Hope noone has to go too far today. Horrible weather predicted across the country. Stay safe if you do head out.

Nothing planned for today other than to go home and get stuck back into my book on the sofa. Also need to write a couple of application letters for jobs I've seen.

No luck on the college courses yet, think I need to get a hard copy of what's on offer as the websites aren't helping. Although I have seen an Indian head massage course which sounds quite interesting. Might look into home study courses too.

Got new tyres yesterday - was told I needed 3 and cost £95 all in. Is that good?

Think I've got stuffed lamb heart casserole for dinner. Can't wait, it's my favourite. :T And so cheap.

    Hope everyone's ok
