sunflower bonnets lol!
my MIL has started knitting, i don't know why. she's not the knitting type and we're having a boy. so far only a cardigan and a jumper, both are nice and are in a larger size so will fit when the weather gets colder. she's also embroidered a winnie the pooh picture for his bedroom, framed it for him. it's really nice. she does embroidered pics on cards for special occasions too, much nicer than frilly knitted things. you might like to steer your MIL in that direction instead lol! i've said nice far too many times in this post, i just can't think of another adjective.
i'll look out for that book, although i'm due next weekend if the baby is anything like me it will be as late as possible52% tight0 -
Hehe! Just found the bit about headbands in the book:
"And there are these headbands with flowers on that go round a baby's head, and basically they're used on a baldy baby to indicate it's a girl. Oh, say it loud and say it proud: the kid's bald!"
And later on "If you buy those headbands with a bow on them for a girl baby your child will look like a demented Easter egg in a nappy"
Lol!
It's a really funny book, as it's Kaz Cooke's own pregnancy diary (which is where the funny comments come from) but it's still full of sensible pregnancy advice. It's worth a read even if you've already had a child, I'm sure lots of mums & dads would identify with her humerous pregnancy experiences, & it's a good laugh.
As for MIL, she and her friend have mounted an intense knitting campaign over which we have little control. So far we have two newborn cardigans & two aged 12 months, 2 pairs of bootees & there are two more cardigans under construction. Thankfully no frills as yet. No idea why the cardigans have jumped from Newborn to twelve months in size, but never mind, she's happy!0 -

BTW We got a load of very fetching pastel green, orange and white striped hand knitted cardigans for my baby girl when she was born. Suffice to say she never wore them!!!It's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know0 -

I had a bobble hat with my name stitched in wool across the front, with long dangly boobles from the top of it, I made it myself
I was 14 at the time tho

lol!
i suppose having the baby name on the cardigan would indicate a female child ... why newborn cardigans though sasha, isn't your baby due in august, or is my brain full of cotton wool again?
MIL doesn't live nearby so she won't know if roo is wearing her creations. we'll put him in them before taking photos
i went into town today with my mum, i just HAD to have a roasted veg sandwich from maccy d's (pregnancy is turning me into a chav, i swear i never ate there before getting pregnant!) and i kept an eye out for easter egg babies but no joy. i don't think anywhere here sells headbands though.52% tight0 -
