i think earrings look awful on babies. i don't think i've ever seen a headband on a baby, if i have it didn't stick in my mind so it can't have been too awful. there really aren't many chavs in my town, until i got a job in mcdonalds i never saw any.

I took my earings out when I had my son cos he pulled at things and I didn't fancy my ears being ripped, so I wouldn't like to think that a baby could tug at an earing and tear her ear!

As for head ornaments, this thread has really made me laugh. My son went through a stage of wanting to wear my hair grips, all pink and ginghamy. I let him. He doesn't care about looking daft and I don't care if people mistake him for a girl! He may hate me for it when he's 12 though. (Although I'm sure he'll have stopped wearing the hair slides by then! He's only 1.)
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

I have been howling at this thread. For all the reasons listed above and one more .... my latest arrival bless her, has sooo much hair and its so curly. She has these gorgeous floppy curly ringlets. She is 10 months and has had two cuts (not trims !) at the neck. My HV told me off for putting clips and bobbles in because she might eat them !?. So we did think about hair bands, but she seems to have a big head too (thank goodness her hair covers it !) so defo not.

As for the earring debate. My sister did her daughters very young. She said they dont fiddle with them and infect them when they are so young ......... I wasnt impressed. I have told my other daughter that it hurts far too much (she is 6) and she wouldn't like it !!.

But the question is, does she also dress them in Burberry check?

I used to sell ear piercing equipment to chemist outlets.
The method was, to give for say one hour , free piercing to the public to convince the pharmacist that there was a demand for it.
What we were never allowed to do though ,was pierce a baby's ears. Why? because when the the child became an adult they might sue their parent for abuse/assault .!!

me neither and i eat breakfast there all the time. i was given a 'chav spotting' book for xmas though and it seems that 'maccy d's' is a favourite chav eatery. i swear that mcd's is the only place in my town that you ever see burberry, or jewelled ragdoll necklaces! not at breakfast time though.

she sounds gorgeous :D my son has a massive head too, but being a boy it didn't really matter, he has short hair. it must be a good shape because people never comment on how huge it is but i've always struggled to get clothes that would fit over his head lol! have you noticed that kirsten dunst has a massive head too?

if the hair is really long though isn't it a nuisance for her? does it get into her food, does she have yoghurty hair? what about when she has a cold/runny nose, lol! i see the point about eating hair clips, i didn't think of that. if i were you i'd probably buy the hairbands, but before reading this thread i had no idea they were so scorned :rotfl:
