I didn't believe the scales when I got on them today as I have gained five pounds! How did that happen, I really have been careful about my food and also have been exercising each day, walking the dog, exercise ball, trampoline and bike. Granted I don't do very long on any of those things but such a huge gain has really depressed me. I did start some new tablets last Friday but they don't mention weight gain as a side effect. I do take three others that all state weight gain as a side effect and I thought I was at least preventing it getting any worse.

I am going to go to the pool tomorrow for my hydrotherapy but now dread having to change into my swimsuit again in front of all the skinny people who have spent loads of money on the Cam diet!

I haven't posted much because I did have a horrible feeling that I had put some weight on and didn't want to admit it to myself but now the scales prove it.

Don't be scared of the swim suit Poohbear...You have to have confidence in yourself now as it doesn't magically appear when you're skinnier...Just think about the good the hydrotherapy will do you and take a deep breath as you skedaddle from changing room to pool....

I have yet to go swimming once where all the water has jumped out as I've jumped in :D everyone is too wrapped up in themselves and their body hang ups to be worrying about little you.

The gain is obviously annoying for you but there are many many reasons for it...the exercise should be giving you a bit more muscle...and you body might just want to balance itself out again...bet you're fitter now than you were at the start of the week..

Look on the positive side of things...and keep at it...I'm sure it will come right in the end

Welcome turpentinekiss.. u are in great company!

Poohbear59 i was in the same situation as you yesterday, and I know you feel crap, but just try to look forward. You have a target and the only way you will reach there is if you keep going and press forward. As for the swimming, its true you need to get confidence now, nobody will look and even if they do it won't be forever! You'll be ok..

Ajax- thanks for the link I now know wat Quorn is..so basically its fungus which is making me more confused cos it looks nothing like mushroomy stuff!
I don't have a clue about these 23..24 points from WW...does a point link to a food item or something?

Thanks for your input victory.. i put you guys in a different paragraph, so the boxing gloves wouldn't go on...lol

.......to regulate your input WW and SW use a scoring system. Foods are attributed points according to their nutritional composition. On WW the system is called points and on SW it's called syns. Everything you eat or drink has to be counted, so as I say, it regulates your food intake.

Both systems are very similar. SW is a bit more miraculous as it claims that you can eat as much of a certain type of food as you like, depending on the type of day you are on (ie red or green). WW is a simpler system and easier to get an instant points check - pretty much anything can be approximately pointed in your head just by looking at the food label.

Thanks serendisglair and QT2006, I know you are right but it is really difficult to admit it to myself. I'll take a robe with me then I don't need to worry too much and I need to stay warm so that can be my excuse.

    Hi Everyone,

Sorry, haven't had time to catch up on all the posts I've been so busy cleaning the house from hell for the past two days. I've spent today sleeping and trying to do something nice for myself - so bought myself new makeup.

I was so tired I didn't even make it to my WI last night but I did weigh myself on my scales at home and have lost 1.5lbs. .... but to allow for fluctuations between WW scales and mine, I'm going to post -1lb for me please Granny.

Hope all is well. I'll be back with a proper catch up soon.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.

    Hiya delly, good loss xxxxxxxx

If you have your WW points thingy (the one that tells you how many you can have), can you post it please if it is easily cut/pasteable?
  • [quote=katiepoppycat;8293995]yay vix! btw, you mentioned creased night wear - does that mean your mum currently irons nightwear? I'm such a slob. My grandmother was horrified to discover that I don't iron . . .

    bedding
    towels
    underwear
    nightwear
    jeans
teatowels ( yes she thinks i should iron teatowels)

    am i slob?

:rotfl: no kpc, you have a l..i..f..e.. Who irons bedding or any of the above? not me.(apart from jeans, i no longer own any) I keep ironing to an absolute minimum except during the summer I am partial to brightly coloured linens which are the curse of satan when it come to creases.
poohbear - always keep posting and especially when you struggling coz that's when we can be the calvelry coming over the hill. I totally echo serens excellent post on this. And we know you are someone else who has to struggle with health issues, so well done for keeping at it. As pet said, if losing weight were that easy, there wouldn't be a million pound industry out there. Sometimes mad results just crop up and it is gutting , but look at the bigger picture.(sorry for the pun)
bails - delighted you had a good time. £20 eh, the (non-alc)drinks are on you then:D . Did you manage to sort out the earning/benefits minefield?
QT I've done both ww and sw. For me, on ww I just didn't get enough to eat and I just can't do going hungry. On SW, veg, fruit, quorn, is free food and you can have plenty other stuff to eat. It's very flexible to suit what food you prefer eating. However, I know others on here found they ate too much and prefered the dicipline of ww. On sw you choose between red and green days: A very simpified explantion is:on red you can eat unlimited meat(:D ) and on green unlimited pasta/rice/potatoes. You choose everyday what day you are going to have and stick to the 'rules' of that days choices.
Perhaps when discuussing meals with your housemates, don't see it as 'confronting' but as a friend appealing for support, be that it changed meals options, or understanding from them if you go it alone. On SW, if you go online with them (not a separate fee, you just need the weekly password you get at the weekly meeting) there is a whole student section.
Seren - where would I be? Much fatter - my weight was consistantly creeping up. That's why I think even if peeps aren't losing, to sts the same is excllent becasue at least you've stopped the pattern and arenot creating a bigger problem for the future. I am also greatful that I don't have a very sweet tooth nor drink - if I had both I would have had much more to lose I am sure, and feel more deprived by cutting them out. I really enjoy your philosphical thoughts and your openess with your struggle to grapple with this. Thanks for sharing.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
