  • Hi, I'm gonna join in with this thread.

Between June 2007 and September 2007 I lost 44lbs with Lighter Life and went from a size 16/18 to a size 10/12.

Between September 2007 and now, I have gained back 18lbs of that. I do still have a fair few size 12 trousers that fit me, but they are a wee bit snug and I'm in danger of becoming a size 12/14, and then that will lead to a 14, then to a 14/16 so I need to put a stop to it NOWWW!

LL really helped me to lose that unthinkable three stone, but I really want to try and get rid of this 18lbs by controlling what I eat, and getting more exercise.

I have joined a gym, and bought a pedometer. I'm hoping to try and eat sensibly, and put the focus on exercise. I usually weigh in on a Friday, but I'm happy to change days to a Wednesday - I actually weigh in every day anyway, but just take the Friday reading as the weekly loss, but as I said, I'll do it on a Wednesday from now on.

Yesterday's pedometer steps: 10,596 including 6,490 aerobic steps and I did make the extra effort to get out and walk. I took DS to his football training session, then walked back home, then went back to pick him up, we walked to Woolworths and then went home again. The rest of the steps were from pottering about at home cleaning.

There's a good site called www.mapmywalk.com which is helpful in trying to work out distances walked that I find invaluable.

can nayone recommend a decent pedometer? the freebie ones i have even count on the bus so i lose track of exactly how many steps i have walked..

  • I've got an Omron Walking Style II and it's the most accurate one I have ever owned. It's very reasonably priced too. It counts the number of steps, but then it also counts how many aerobic steps you have done, these are when you have walked continuously for over ten minutes or more.

Hi Floozie! Welcome! Congratulations on your brilliant loss, that must have taken some effort! I lost my 40lbs or so between May-December last year and it was pretty full on with diet and exercise during that time.

I am just starting to get to grips with maintaining, at the moment the weight is still coming off but I'm sure I'll get it to balance out over the next few weeks. It will be great having another gym/exercise person on here!

Jillie1974, I bought a cheapish pedometer from Argos and I don't rate it much so you probably get what you pay for! It's useful as a rough guide and not much else.

  • welcome floozie, you sound very determined, i'm sure youll do fine. Bluecorn, i too am sorry you feel left out - this is a very busy thread and it's impossible to respond to everybody's observations every time - please don't take it personally.

Glad to hear Delly's doing well - I'm feeling better with the motivation, and seem to have broken the cycle of that business of going down a black instead of just slightly offpiste. Not losing any weight at them oment but I'm exercising more and compensating for the fact that i seem to eating out every other night at the moment so I'm quite happy at the mo!

Hi Bluecorn, we've all probably felt like that from time to time but keep posting and chatting! Weather has been so dismal, I should think the rugby will have been more like a mudbath if Suggs played! How is the Mrs? I hope the pregnancy is going fine, your baby is due the day before my birthday :)

Hi KPC, love those ski-ing metaphors ;)

I am having a meal cooked for me this evening! How fabulous! (This is very rare). Even though it's the day before weigh in I am going to just enjoy it and forget about the fact I never normally eat a full meal in the evening. I've only eaten 500 cals today so I should be in the clear, I hope.

    Hi bluecorn and welcome Floozie
I skipped last weeks weigh in because I know I have gained. I know that is the cowards way out but I admit that too. I have been feeling really grotty so have not exercised at all for the last few days. My new resolution is to start properly tomorrow with mini trampoline, exercise ball and bike. I will do at least 2 minutes on each. I have done ball exercises today but feel that is all I can manage for now.
Its my b'day today and so I know I can't go back to diet until tomorrow or family will be upset if I don't eat what they have cooked for me.
